VIDEOS AT LINK.....................
San Antonio Police, today, released video from an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, October 2, 2022. Below is a brief synopsis of the critical incident:
At around 10:30 p.m. Sunday evening, an officer handling a disturbance at the McDonald’s at 11700 Blanco Road noticed a vehicle in the parking lot he believed had fled from him during an attempted stop the night before. The vehicle, which was not related to the disturbance call, was occupied by a male, 17-year-old driver driver, and a female passenger. The Officer abruptly opened the driver’s door and ordered the driver out of the car. The officer reported that he was hit by the open door as the driver started to reverse the vehicle. The officer then stepped back and opened fire on the vehicle as the driver continued to reverse away from him.
The driver shifted the vehicle to drive and then turned away from the Officer to leave. The Officer shot several more times at the fleeing vehicle and then ran after the vehicle. The driver suffered multiple gunshot wounds. His passenger was uninjured.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus has determined that the actions of the probationary officer during this critical incident were in violation of departmental tactics, training, and procedures. The Department’s Shooting Team is finalizing its investigation and will forward its findings to the Bexar County District Attorney’s office for an independent investigation. As of this publication, the investigation remains ongoing.
Give that cop a promotion!
Yikes!
Isn't he the one who was so soft on the illegals?
My Good Guys brother and nephew, both long time LEO’s and now retired, call this an expression of now dominant Arrogance Gene. As fewer Good People become LEO’s and fewer Good People are citizens, the only people that apply for LEO’s are a group that should never have a gun and never have a badge. Pistol Petes.
Similar problems with politics. Many of those ‘in charge’ should never be elected again.
This is what happens when you demonize and demoralize the good guys while letting criminals go free on a race card pass.
Cop was out of control. He needs to go to jail.
Putting the car in motion was a seriously stupid thing to do. It was almost an admission of guilt. If it was a mistaken identity case, the kid should have complied and let it sort itself out. Cooperation is a good way to prevent police brutality, at least to avoid it.
Hit the cop with attempted murder and a huge civil suit.
Lock that crazy man up!
You can’t know it was a legitimate police officer when something that irrational and without cause is done to you.
A car is a weapon in this kid used as it as such. Deadly force was the response to deadly force. I don’t see what he did wrong. And there was some excellent shooting as the passenger was not hit.
Suspect’s car coming right at you: good shoot.
Suspect’s car driving away: bad shoot.
Of course there’s an exception. Was the fleeing car an imminent danger to others? For example, was the suspect heading right towards a crowd? No imminent danger = bad shoot.
Did the officer confirm that the car was the same car before he even approached the car?
If not, if he was just obeying a hunch, then where was his probable cause to begin with?
So right there the whole scenario is wrong.
But then Mr Genius in the car, when faced by an angry cop opening his door, started to flee even before there was gun fire.
People really need to watch Chris Rock’s how not to be beat by the police video.
Its wisdom could have saved this guy from getting shot.
Or maybe he had seen it and his woman was mad and about to yell “He got weed!”?
> . I don’t see what he did wrong. <
Yes, the kid set things in motion by not cooperating with the officer. But the cop crossed the line when he started shooting at the car as it sped away. There could have been children in that car. There could have been innocents standing behind the car, in the line of fire.
The whole idea of opening fire is to either protect the cop’s life, or to protect the lives of innocents. The cop in this instance put more innocent lives in jeopardy. That does not excuse the kid in any way, of course.
I don't think so. There are many cars that are the same year, color, make and model.....................
Suspect’s car driving away: bad shoot.
No imminent danger = bad shoot.
Check and check.....................
😒
Nonsense -- this kid did no such thing. He never drove it at the officer.
His first encounter with this officer is when the officer jerks his door open while he's got a hamburger in his mouth. No lights, no tap on the window, just immediately jerks his door open completely surprising the kid.
“Isn’t he the one who was so soft on the illegals?”
That’s the Bexar County Sheriff I think.
This jackass was pretty quick on the trigger. The kid is a dumbass, but you don’t get to execute a kid because they are fleeing.
I’d be curious if the kid actually realized it was a cop. Could be the cop was backlight by one of the parking lot lights and all the kid saw was the dark silhouette of someone that just yanked open his car door and said get out of the car. Cop never identified himself.
Didn’t read yet, but let me guess. The guy shot at was “of color?”
