A top White House health official on Monday issued a stark warning to older people about the health risk they face this fall and winter from Covid-19.
Dr. Ashish Jha, head of the White House Covid task force, said everyone older than 50 and senior citizens in particular need to get an omicron booster as soon as possible.
"If you're over 50, certainly if you're over 65, you've got to go get these vaccines because it actually, literally could save your life. It's a difference between life and death," Jha said during an interview with Yahoo Finance.
The elderly have faced the high risk of falling seriously ill with Covid since the beginning of the pandemic. More than 330 people, on average, are still dying every day from Covid, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
About 70% of people dying from Covid right now are 75 and older, Jha told reporters earlier this month. He said people dying from the virus are either not up to date on their vaccines or aren't receiving treatments such as the antiviral pill Paxlovid when they have breakthrough infections.
"If you are up to date with your vaccines and if you get treated if you have a breakthrough infection, your risk of dying from Covid is now close to zero," Jha told reporters at the White House last week.
He said people should get their omicron booster by Halloween so they have protection by Thanksgiving when families and friends start to gather for the holidays. U.S. health officials are expecting another round of infections this winter as people spend more time indoors where the airborne virus transmits more easily.

That's shockingly unexpected! Normally most people dying of whatever (cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's, etc.) are in their 20s and 30s.
My 95-year-old father-in-law got COVID a few months ago. He suffers from congestive heart failure and other problems. He was in bed for about two days and had a fever one day. He took Ivermectin and was over the COVID in about a week.
They really want those Social Security recipient numbers down.
I guess this article is built on the premise that a world controlled by corrupt Commies is worth living in.

One then can connect the messaging dots. People who are shortly to die should consume our products before they "go." Because, otherwise those of us who will be dying might die. Slick.

Sounds like my FIL in his 80s. He has end stage dementia, is on hospice, and is mostly bed bound. He is very frail and when we all came down with Covid we really wondered how it would affect him. He lives with us.
He had a few days of fever, and a week of fatigue, then back to himself. He did develop pneumonia after, but he would have done the same with a cold or flu, because it’s very hard to clear any cough when you’re not moving around. It took a few days of oxygen, steroids and antibiotics, but he beat the pneumonia in a week.
My DH did not want to try ivermectin on him, but I gave him zinc, quercetin, vitamin d, c, aspirin. He already takes melatonin and Pepcid AC. DH and I took ivermectin and we both beat the fever in one day, and felt back to normal in 2 days. No fatigue or anything. I lost smell for a week. DH had a nasal drip type cough for 2 weeks.
If the pandemic is over then why are we paying the salary for a “covid czar”?

The word “most” means over 50%. Not 99%.
Life Expectancy at birth in the US has fallen far more since Covid arrived than before, And just to be real about this and demolish the wackos who have persuaded themselves that the vax killed everyone, life expectancy in the US lost over a full year in 2020, post Covid and before vax existed.
The virus killed hundreds of thousands that year. Not vax.
As for dismissing the deaths because they were old people who would die next week anyway, the Life Expectancy of a 65 year old is about 20 years. For a 75 year old it is about 12 years. At birth 76.6 years, down 2.6 years since Covid arrived. That number is 74.4 for men.
Stop the insanity. The virus kills old people. It takes years from them they would otherwise have lived.
