I used to have some free-range Silver Pheasant, so if people saw a weird bird in their yard, they assumed I was behind it. One day a neighbor knocked on the door and said “ The police are chasing your emu.” Uh, no. It was from a farm about a mile and a half through the woods away. She always had stuff escaping.

Red Stags are native to Germany. Interesting. My money is that someone imported a few as exotics on the black market, possibly for a “zoo” and thought nothing of releasing them when their plans didn’t pan out.

More meat for him! Yum.

One reason Georgia deer run thin is that there are just too many of them. That’s why the limit is 14 per season and 2 per day. We have around 5 deer living on our rural property in Habersham county and they all look pretty good this year. We had a good acorn season. I’m originally from North Florida and Florida deer are really small.
