Does this hold true at WalMart, you think? Any definitive studies?

Maybe you’d be happier in Wisconsin.

No I don't like snow, and I'm not a deer hunter. We did move to Arizona. Not much in the way of deer or squirrels here. I really don't miss the fire ants. Georgia has a great Little League system, and reasonably priced housing once outside of Atlanta. Great people ... far more important than squirrel or deer.

I shot a 6x6 mule deer in 1984 in eastern Washington. Hanging weight, fully dressed out (no hide, head, lower legs and hooves) was 265lbs. Made the other deer in locker look like goats. On the hook, his front shoulders were barely off the floor.

The locker owner called the game warden even though I had the head, hide, and legs in the truck.

Yes everything is Better up north obviously

I think some freepers misread my post as being anti-south. I was just making an observation about squirrel and deer, and mentioned Armadillos (who don't bother you if you don't bother them) and fire ants (which is something southerners don't like either).

I could also list a whole lot of things better about Columbus, GA than "The North". I left my home state of Connecticut for a reason, and when I visit, it is depressing.

The people in Georgia are great, the Little League is great. I didn't miss snow. The local Republican Party welcome a conservative transplant.

Also, the South has MUCH better interaction between black people and white people than the northern cities. Where Madison, Wisconsin had 30% India/Pakistan/Whateverstan employees, Columbus, GA had black Americans who spoke comprehensible English and knew their stuff, and cooperated.

Some of that might be because of nearby Ft. Benning, but not all of it.

Speaking of Alabama, I was very pleasantly surprised to find a VERY good Italian restaurant in Phenix City, AL of all places, Giovanna's Pizzeria. Also liked the EWTN area for sites of interest to Catholics. I loved hearing the stories from Alabama co-workers about how to make a still. I thought that was a long-dead legend, but it is a very real thing, and very cool. (hint: Tums and Aquarium heaters are both used in the process). But despite it all I like venison in any size, but more is better.

They re-introduced elk in Southern WV a couple of years ago.
Some were from KY and some from AZ.
Herd is doing pretty well according to DNR, if you can believe what they say. WV DNR has credibility problems here.

Well, maybe if you really like canola fields and 40 below (C or F) temperatures. I found a great woman there, and married her. I think that a tiny village of 300 supporting a curling rink is kinda cool. I wasn't big on the 18 hour nights at Christmas time in Grande Prairie, though.

It’s only for a little while, and minus 40 doesn’t stick long heh.

I admit to being a little prejudiced. Albany, New York is as far West and as far South as I ever want to live.

I'm glad to hear there are plenty of people that like New York, that way they'll stay there. I was born in Maryland and have lived all over the country during my family and my time in the military. When I got out it I moved to be near family in Mississippi and now split my off time between the family farm in Mississippi and a condo in Florida. My current job requires constant travel, I'm in Australia right now. I've been to every state in the union and somewhere around 40 countries so I've seen a bit of the world. One of the absolute last places I ever long to see again is New York, it's right next to China and India on my list of favorite places. The concept that someone would prefer a place like that to just about anywhere in the South is so unimaginable to me that I will never be able to wrap my brain around it. Everybody's got their preferences, but anyone who actually enjoys living in any part of lower New York state is befuddling to me. Having travelled almost the entirety of the country I can say that I'd rather live almost anywhere than there.
