My employer, a large multi-national bank recently began mandatory return to office. Same large multi-national bank required all employees to be "fully vaccinated" up to about two months ago, when that requirement was suddenly and mysteriously dropped. The language just "disappeared" like Joe Biden's nose into a young woman's hair. But I digress.
I personally have steadfastly refused to commute into Shitcago anymore because it's just not safe. When I did go earlier this year, typically once every week, I conceal/carried. I was typically one of a handful of people in the office when I went in, despite our having multiple floors of a large, downtown Shitcago building, each of which housed upwards of 250 - 350 people per floor. That's just the building I worked in, we have multiple downtown business locations.
So last week while I was on vacation, there was a major CHINA VIRUS breakout in each of our downtown office locations.
The result: Our offices are closed for cleaning & disnfecting for TWO WEEKS.
Here we go again: Two Weeks to Flatten The Curve!
The entire Chicago area is considered "medium transmission" according to the CDC and without any "public health official" or politician saying a word, more and more people are masking up again.
I refuse, even though I'm immune system compromised because I know masks DO NOT WORK, and if they did, people are too stupid to know how to wear them properly.
The sheep here seem to be very well trained. (heavy sigh...)

I retired from 40 years in banking about 10 years ago. I’m sure I wouldn’t recognize the profession now. Big banks have become quasi-fedgov operations it seems, executing cultural policy in addition to all of the usual regulatory crap.
I already work remote and am relocating to TN in the next 6'ish months. For the past almost 3 years I've been almost exclusively remote.

I don't follow the 'mainstream media' and haven't since 1994'ish. What are they in a snit about now:
1. China's Zero Covid Policy & the Lockdowns or
2. The protests against Xi and the CCP's lockdowns?
My hunch: #2. The 'mainstream media' would never be against lockdowns and authoritarian rule.
I advise Americans to lick the door handles at the grocery stores. Get sick for three days, and then get on with their lives.
Following CDC rules and suggestions, as wrong as they are, prevents any lawsuits, I imagine.
