Sounds line a crosswind got it.
My sis and I were partners in the Tee-Pee with a grain handling/storage sales and installer. Our farm was about 20 miles from his home, and the county strip almost halfway between us. He didn’t use it much, but when he did, it was to be CLEAN, and in the airport hangar. That was fine until he wanted to trade up, and sis wanted out after moving 130 miles away. He bought us out.
That was the end of the free unannounced neighborhood airshows I put on. Chasing an imaginary foe through the trees (like the down low dogfight in the Blue Max) was a blast, but I never did it when my parents were home. They found out though and put a stop to it, so I had to resort to hit and run tactics: buzz through a wooded pasture miles from home once, then look for another location. Fun while it lasted. Smashed a lot of bugs.
“I know now butt out.”
Civility, anyone?
It has been about 30 years or so since my dad bought a used plane. After the purchase he found out the battery was a farm tractor battery not rated for aircraft.
Lol!!
If the plane was green and yellow it should have been ok though.
But ya don’t need a battery anyway, just hand prop it.... and stay clear of any moving lights in the night sky. Lol
Buyer be ware...
yellow horse Territory, Canada.
Yellow Knife Territory, sorry
Yellow Knife, capital of Northwest Territory.
“I use noscript. So many cross links at that webpage. Dangerous.”
Yep, I do too. And when you allow the top “domain” listing a whole bunch more new ones pop up.
I can’t believe folks are willing to accept those hidden scripts. Even worse a lot of those 3rd party scripts are just fronts for 4th, 5th, and 6th party scripts.
NoScript is the right stuff...
Something that makes up for an inadequate sleeping bag is adding a blanket or blankets inside of the bag which makes a HUGE difference.
Are you Canadian?
[google] “You must have a valid Possession & Acquisition Licence (PAL) to purchase ammunition in Canada.”
The RCMP as I understand is very capable and they perform wilderness patrolling. I would not sidestep the requirement.
I noticed they have eggs in Whitehorse.
Maybe I need to place an order.....
My truck was tossed for eight hours by Canadian Customs at Beaver Creek. They pulled everything out of our camper shell, rifled through everything...even ruffled through all the pages of all our books and undid our toothpaste!
They threw everything on the muddy ground, in the middle of a driving rainstorm.
It was the most unpleasant crossing experience I’ve ever had.
I asked him why they were being so destructive, he kept saying we were bringing drugs into Canada.
We had transferred from the USFS at the Kenai Lake Work Center, Seward Ranger District, where we built and maintained trails in the Chuchach, to Yellowstone NP. We looked like scruffy, grungy rednecks, but neither one of us had ever touched drugs in our life.
Finally, at the end of eight hours he told us that we can leave. I looked at all our stuff thrown all around our truck and camper shell, all over the muddy ground, while they had waved through dozens of other vehicles, and asked him “NOW do you believe us?!”
He said “NO, I’m positive that if I called down and got some dogs up here, that we would find where you hide them, in an axle, or tires, or whoever.”
I said “DO IT!! I challenge you, DO IT!” as I was so angry and upset with him.
He said “No, I’m tired, my shift is over, now get out of here.”
This was during the D2 land seizures by Jimmy Carter way back in the ‘70’s, so a long, long time ago, but I’ll never forget being treated so rudely.
I moved after Yellowstone to North Idaho where I worked construction/BLM in the summers and security in the winters for Schweitzer and Watson Security, and traveled to Canada countless times after that, and they were always polite!
To this day I miss Alaska, Montana and North Idaho!
bttt
Id like this for a while
Good girl I like her even if she pimps her reusable market bags
(Hey I did it again what’s wrong with me tonight)
Civility, anyone?
Here, on a thread about darn grocery shopping in the Yukon, a minority of ill-mannered FReepers still can't manage to abide by simple rules of civility.
Side remark: I think that, as the Putinistas continue to lose ground and their propaganda becomes increasingly absurd, shrill, and desperate in response, we will see them also try to disrupt completely unrelated threads (not even tangentially concerning Ukraine), in an attempt to sow divisiveness and generally disrupt communication.
It would help if we would stand by each other and come to each other's aid if we see someone else being subjected to untoward abuse.
Regards,
In ‘71 Whitehorse was like a wonderful oasis when we drove the Alcan Hwy. moving to Alaska. Seven miles of paved highway among hundreds of miles of gravel road! Heaven!
When we crossed over around Sweetgrass, Montana, in ‘71, they destroyed everything in our pathetic little Hornet. We were 21 so they must’ve figured “drugs”. We had just finished seminary and wouldn’t have known a drug if it bit us in the ass.
Screw Canada.
Yes, Robinette does some nice camping videos.
