I don’t use a butter knife. I use an old fashioned can opener, the kind with the triangle edge. Use the other side under the lip until you hear the seal pop. Works great!

I have found for many jars that a beer bottle cap opener will work as the knife in your example. Apply a little cap open pressure and the seal will hiss and the lid will open easily by hand after that.

yep. I use a church key to carefully break the seal. Pop! Jar opens easy.
