For shame, Speaker McCarthy, for shame!
The following quote appeared in a recent posting at The Hill by Mychael Schnell (2/2/23):
Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) broke with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Thursday when asked about the death of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed by Capitol police during the Jan. 6, 2021 attack, concluding she was not murdered, as Greene has said. “I think the police officer did his job,” McCarthy told reporters when asked if he agreed with Greene that Babbitt was murdered.
--------------- Sadly, or rather, bizarrely, we are to infer from the Speaker's callous comment that it is the "job" of a Capitol Hill policeman to shoot to kill an unarmed American who is found protesting on Capitol Hill grounds.
What makes the Speaker's despicable remark even more bizarre is that the House, on same day, passed House Resolution 9 called "Denouncing the horrors of socialism," sponsored by Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar of Florida, with the support of 109 Democrats, denouncing socialist dictatorships where persons daring to speak their political minds do so at the risk of being shot by police doing their jobs at the behest of socialist dictatorships.
Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That Congress denounces socialism in all its forms, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States of America.
Passed the House of Representatives February 2, 2023.

It is deplorable that the new House Speaker cannot comprehend that the shooting of the unarmed 34-year old Ashli Babbitt was, quite literally, an expression of the "weaponization" of a thuggish governmental mindset that intends to transform our free Republic into an oppressive dictatorship.

There is a class that all military people are required to take annually while they’re in service. I was teaching it my last few months on active duty, and in the Air Force, it was called “Protection of the President” and included other government officials, including congresscritters. She was active-duty Air Force, too, once upon a time. She broke through the glass into a locked area where the Vice President and other government officials were being sheltered from the so-called rioters. I’m sorry, folks, but the cop did his job. Who you should want to blame for this is not the cop. It’s the person who declared this a riot. That person is responsible. And the people breaking into other windows in the Capitol Building should be happy they didn’t get shot too. Nancy Pelosi’s name comes to mind. Wasn’t she the one who actually refused help? Seems to me she set this up!

She wasn’t in the grounds, she was inside the Capitol building climbing through a broken window trying to get in to the Speakers lobby.
FACT.... cop had zero legal reason to fire. No crime was happening worse than trespassing. The offender was a small unarmed woman. She was in a vulnerable position climbing through a small window. He skipped over every lesser use of force. He could have grabbed and arrested her. He could have used a baton, he could have pepper sprayed her or used a taser.
He went straight to guns and murdered her without any verbal warning despite his safe position of advantage.
This was outright murder. If someone small unarmed woman was climbing into the window of a mayors office and the local cops simply gunned her down. The entire FBI and DOJ would descend on that town.
McCarthy is turning out to be just what I suspected he would be. A moral and physical coward.

How did he know she was unarmed (she had pockets) or didn't have an IED in her backpack. Think he might have been thinking about the time there was a bomb set off there?
Put yourself in his place. Your duty is to protect the Congress critters. Someone just broke thru the glass and is climbing in. Do you wait to be shot at or die in the explosion before you act?
I don't know what was in his mind and neither do any of you. He might have been looking for someone to kill or maybe just doing his job. Too many Freepers believe only what they want to believe. Much like Dems.

Ashli was innocent. Byrd should stand trial.
You are wrong. Deadly force was not legal for use against protesters getting near congressmen. And Pence was not hiding in that wing.
This was a standard law enforcement operation, by a police department, not a military operation. So all the deadly force rules that apply to any city cop applied here. They were resoundingly violated.
It was outright murder.

At any rate, with all the hundreds of folks standing and milling around, she was picked out and shot by that cop...
No one else shot, not another round was fired...That was a picked out murder....
Don't forget, government officials on Capitol Hill were urged to evacuate the Capitol Building that day via the secure underground tunnels. Anyone "important" who remained in the building did so to justify the officers' use of deadly force, per the training that you mentioned. Yeah, it was a set-up... and I suspect that Nancy had bipartisan support for her plan.
The three cops she was talking to right at the door saw zero threat at all.
Think others on this thread already tore your argument apart.
If they were really worried about a 5’6” woman with a daypack they could always just say Stop, and search her. It’s done thousands of times a day by ordinary police, not Praetorian Guards with a racial axe to grind. They don’t shoot first on any vague supposition.
