Irish wind farms had a strong start to the year with a new record for the most electricity ever produced in the month of January.
The January Wind Energy Report showed that 41% of the country’s power came from wind last month, up 9% on January 2022. However, the industry warned delays in the planning system were slowing the delivery of new wind farms.
Wind farms produced 1,479 gigawatt-hours of electricity last month, up 200 GWh on the previous January best, and the seventh best month on record for wind power.
This is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of around 320,000 Irish families. …

Yes; they’re doubling down on that. Been boycotting Guinness, Murphy’s and Beamish ever since they decided to harass parade organizers for that agenda.
Ireland has fewer people than the state of Tennessee.
I would love to be able to compare the cost per KW hour.
In the meantime, the CO2 reduction is so minimal it probably cannot be measured.
Build nuclear electric generators, not wind farms.
All those wonderful “Irish” migrants from Africa will need the extra power I guess...
If the Irish like expensive and intermittent electrical power (solar and wind) rather than the cheap and reliable stuff (nuclear and coal), more power to them!
With all the wind and flatulence the Swedish Meatball and her comrades are producing, I’m surprised it isn’t more than that.
Wondering just how they fudged the numbers to get that result...
Lies, damned lies, and statistics.
There are about 10 reasons to prohibit wind generation in Ireland. Among them are visual blight over the Emerald Isle, cost per gwh, and materials degradation and disposal, etc....
BUT there are 2 decent reasons Ireland is one of the few places that it may be beneficial. The Atlantic meridional brings warm water to the isle resulting in little or no freezing temps, and a rather reliable wind. Few locales are as lucky, so no surprise to see a “success” story there, if they can ignore all the negatives.
One huge negative will become apparent when wind companies go out of business. Coming soon.
DRYLAND!
If you build enough windmills, they will eventually produce some electricity when it’s windy. If you pour enough money down a rat hole, it will eventually fill up. Neither is worthwhile.
So we have progressed from a potato famine to an electric famine.
So we have progressed from a potato famine to an electric famine.
I figured this was about Davos...
Compared to what a 1000mw nuke plant could produce in one refuel cycle (1.5 yrs) with an 85% capacity factor?.....just sayin’.
Build Molten Salt Reactors NOT “light water” pressurized reactors. www.terrestrialenergy.com has reinvented an old Oak Ridge idea and in my opinion is creating the best GEN IV IMSR design. Please visit their site.
This article from Wind Energy Ireland says the “average price for electricity in Ireland is 136.27 euros per mega watt hour.” That is comparable to the price of electricity in the US. (1000 * $.142 per Kilowatt hour is $142.00 per megawatt hour - Euro about equal to $1).

However the article’s claim about Irish electricity prices is a big fat LIE. See the links below for the truth.

This article from MoneyguideIreland says electricity cost has more than doubled in the last 5 years in Ireland.
It also says -
“Electric Ireland charges 43.27c per kWh and a Standing Charge of €302.91 including VAT.”
43.27c per Kilo watt hour is 432.7 euros per megawatt hour, more than TRIPLE the supposed cost provided by the wind energy lying fraudsters. This kind of sick green propaganda is disgusting.
Here is a link to the website of Electric Ireland, the state utility which provides all of Ireland’s electricity. It states that a 12 month contract for electricity costs .4085 Euros per KWH which is 408.5 euros per mega watt hour. Fraud is fraud, why would anyone ever believe anything from the green lobby when you see the blatant lies they publish. How can this possibly be legal? How many people read this article and believed it? I believed it until I did a stupid google search and found out the truth.
