I watched a medcram video on H5N1 at lunch.
Forgot how many chickens and birds they said have died, it’s a lot.
But I turned it off when they said only 6 people in the US have been infected this year.

Since the first human case of H5N1 in 1997, in Hanoi, every ID meeting I have been to (until COVID) has had a section on the inevitability of the “next pandemic”, meaning human-adapted avian flu.
It’s an interesting property of currently circulating H5N1 strains that the sick person can infect another person, but that second case does not readily infect others.
That’s why, so far, there are only thousands of cases instead of hundreds of millions. Same for H7N9.
