Last words are interesting. It was reported that when Steve Jobs was taking his last breath he simply said something on the lines of ‘Wow! Oh Wow!’. I always believed he was peering into the magnificience of Heaven.

His stint on The 700 Club was quite surprising to me.

My wife and I gave “City on a Hill” a try, but were so turned off by the foul language only watched the first episode (and only watched part of it as I recall).

Belzer was also the MC at the stand-up comedy club in the movie Fame.

I’ve always viewed St. Peter as the gate keeper, and declining entry to this non-Christian person.

The problem is the stories are actually true. Shows how screwed up the country is.

Agree it’s a rough show. I didn’t watch it all but it had many off color movies moments.

Not exactly the language one expects of a christian being ushered into the presence of his Savior.

What a coincidence: he wasn't a Christian.

Over his career I tried to like this guy but it seemed every role he took was just like his last words. Abrasive and vulgar.

Even the folks we dont like that much are being aided on their merry way by modern medicine. No one wants to call it genocide.

Huh? Genocide for a 78 year old man in chronic poor health to die?

I asked him for a signed photo for a friend of mine who was a big fan. Mr Belzer was very pleasant and accommodating with the personalized photo.

I ran into him in Oakland years ago. He had an assistant/flunky with him who was carrying all his bags. I thought that was funny at the time. RIP.

RE: last words.
I’ve seen a few in articles.

Gertrude Stein tossed back and forth saying “what is the answer” and then sat bolt upright and asked “What is the question?” and died right away.

Thomas Edison had seemed nearly dead and then said “It is very beautiful over there.” His close friend Henry Ford had someone ready to preserve Edison’s apparently final breath and I saw it on display in a glass container in the Henry Ford Museum.

I only knew Belzer from his writing of conspiracy theories including Hit List (JFK witness deaths and other topics) and Dead Wrong. I recently learned he wrote crime novels.

Since I never watched TV from about 1990-last year when my wife died (so it’s too grimly quiet without something TV or radio) I missed his shows but then I watched dozens of the old Law and Order and others. All crime or related.
Watched Homicide: Life On the Streets as well as the other use of the same Detective Munch character on L&O.

Here’s a joke he told: “You know what happens when you run a country song backwards? You get your house again, your wife returns to you and your dog comes back.”

May he rest in peace.

Don’t think that was a ‘work’/fake since Belzer died in the house he bought in France from the Hogan/WWF (At the time) legal settlement of that incident.

I imagine comics sitting around in comedy clubs after their shows and listening to some older very opinionated comic who liked to hear himself talk holding forth for hours about politics and being impressed by his nonsense. Belzer would have been the older comic. Still he was an original.

I’m surprised he was 78. That figures, but still, I pictured him younger,

Lol! It’s true, at least of the traditional kind of country music.
Most old Southern Blues songs are also quite formulaic and template like, down to the 4/4 beats before the bridge or chorus.
