Tesla To Open New Production Facility In Monterrey, Mexico
Nation and State ^ | 03/01/2023 | Tyler Durden

After reporting last week that production volume had spooled up at Tesla's new Germany plant, this week we are learning that the Tesla production expansion continues: this time to Mexico.

The company is slated to build a new plant in Monterrey, Mexico, it was reported by Bloomberg this week. The announcement comes after weeks of guessing over where the U.S. based EV company would expand its reach next.

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced on Wednesday that the facility would help Mexico "build on the millions of combustion-engine vehicles the country already supplies to the US every year," according to Bloomberg.

Companies like BMW and GM have also recently announced new investments in Mexico, also.

Lopez Obrador reportedly spoke to Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk about environmental commitments for the plant, which included recycled water throughout the manufacturing process.

AMLO said of the deal: “He was very responsive, understanding our concerns and accepting our proposals. I want to thank Mr. Elon Musk for being very respectful, attentive and understanding of the importance of addressing the problem of water scarcity.”

AMLO had said in the past that permitting could be called into question for the plant if there wasn't enough water in the area of the proposed production sight. Nuevo Leon, where Monterrey is located, even had to have its water access cut last summer due to dams being at risk of emptying. Tesla had similar water scarcity issues that it had to deal with when building its most recent plant in Germany.

So far, neither Tesla nor AMLO has specified what Tesla will be building at the new plant, though over the past week there has been renewed talk of Tesla producing an even more affordable subcompact vehicle. The company is also expected to begin producing its Cybertruck within the next 18-24 months.

Tesla will hold its investor day this week, where it is expected to announce further details of the plan.

I saw an old-school Bullfight in Monterrey when I was a kid, I was puzzled by the structured cruelty of the bullfight and its appeal but have fond memories of the city.

Not many people know what Mexico used to be like, as a kid from Houston I had never seen burglar bars and recognized the broken glass embedded on top of the walls around the yards as an ominous indication of what kind of people inhabited Mexico, that was reinforced by having to toss some coins at the guys on the sidewalk to leave your car alone while you went into a business, that and the brutal treatment of the starving stray dogs.

The thing that I have never seen anywhere else was the bar with a tiled urinal/footrest running the length of it, a man could stand at the bar and drink, and urinate without moving.

He believes in America First...but until the USA makes itself user friendly...and we’re talking taxes...Elon will make the best decisions possible to maintain his companies.

Also, With China recently warning him about his Tweets, Musk is also SLOWLY weaning his production out of the CCP’s control ( which is a good idea ). He should have listened to Trump six years ago.

The only problem is the Mexican workforce. They really need to open a massive training center to get potential employees up to speed on some basics.

Next they need to wage war on their drug cartels so that they can ween government officials off their bribes and make them focus on actually trying to better their citizens and their economy.

Awhile back my internet modem was giving me trouble. It worked, then it didn’t work. So a technician came out and fussed with it. “What’s the problem?” I asked.

“They used to be made in the United States,” he replied. “Now they’re made in Mexico. That’s the problem.”

Musk should learn how to do water desalination on the cheap.

He has all the tools.

All he needs is to design desalination plants sized to fit on a space vehicle, truck or barge. Each plant could stand alone or snap together with other desalination plants of the same design to form larger plants.

Each plant would be created using the stamping process he uses with his car. He could scale the process by using the same stamping machines to create similar size HVACs.

the lowest cost desalination plants are made by israel and singapore. they make desalinated water for about $500@acre foot. Musk could do the same job for $300@acre foot. At that cost desalinated water would be cheap enough for all agriculture except for field crops.

That's what all companies have done for years through outsourcing to cheaper labor. That is what the market demands. When you have artificial minimum wages they destory the entire free market.

You mean our standard of living is too high and we like to breathe clean air here. We all know there isnt a free market, but companies love outsourcing to the heavy hand of commie and corrupt countries which serve their concerns.

The standard of living is artificial. The wage for a job is the wage that someone is willing to perform that job. The market demands that companies do what they can to provide the most service/product for the least cost. If you hamstring them with government, they will go elsewhere to meet the demand.

All standards of living is artificial. Even now debt is proping up our economy via massive government spending. That illusion of living is why so many companies want to import their products here because we have a higher illusion value than others. Not only that, but our courts and politicians tend to favor companies in many ways.

I would hope so... companies are the backbone of America's success.

I want my companies spread as far as possible if that helps improve profits.
