A Florida grandmother has been charged with aggravated manslaughter for the hot-car death of her 7-month-old granddaughter, less than a year after her toddler grandson drowned in a pond while she napped.
Tracey Nix, 65, was babysitting her seven-month-old granddaughter, Uriel Schock, on Nov. 1, when the infant was found dead in the back seat of her SUV.
The 2019 Lexus was parked with all its windows closed outside Nix’s home in small town of Wauchula, where temperatures soared into the 90s on that fall day.
Inside the house, Nix, a former school principal, talked to her dog and practiced the piano.
When interviewed by the police later, the grandmother said she had “just forgotten” about her granddaughter after returning home from lunch with friends, according to an affidavit by the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office.

Hey kids. Let’s go to grandmas......
Sounds like she was in cognitive decline and her daughter still used her for free babysitting services.
"Oh.. she just forgot...."
No.
Hey kids, if you don’t behave we’ll leave you off at grandmas.
Headline makes it sound like she left one kid in the car last year and another a year later.
Daughter obviously had no concern for her kids. One drowns while the grandma is supposedly asleep on the couch. The daughter continues to drop off the other kid and 11 months later that kid stays in a hot car all day and dies while grandma is inside playing the piano. Daughter should be in prison along with the grandma.
I know, what a selfish witch with a B!
Or she has a drinking problem.
That would be my guess.
If her daughter let her babysit after she let one grandkid die through negligence, then we need to check that daughter for “cognitive decline”.
I wonder if the child was inthecar during lunch with friends? Maybe grandma forgot her then? Seems her friends the dog and pleasing herself were on her mind much more than either grandchildren
What is unbelievable is the grandmother only remembered the toddler when another grandchild showed up. Was this a visit from another of the grandmother’s kids or was the third grandchild there to be babysat, as well? If so, she has two kids who need to be looked at pretty hard.
Liquid lunch.
