Going to camp this weekend and if memory serves me, the wifi signal inside the camper is pretty weak. Hotspotting really isn't an option as the wife and I will be watching movies in the evening and my son is an avid gamer. Are there any decent options that aren't exorbitant in price?

WiFi is limited to about 300’ outdoors from its source. Are you sure you’re not talking about cell service? All else being equal, a camper would have better wifi than a house would. Walls are thinner.

What's exorbitant?

If you can't get closer to the wifi hotspot Starlink is the best option I've found.

It works great but you need to buy the hardware and pay monthly - probably not a great option unless you're camping quite a bit.

One reason I go camping is to get away from pervasive technology, so I can’t be any help in this regard.

Is your camper made of metal? It’s kind of a faraday cage isn’t it?

Plus 100.

Camping means no Wi-Fi, no TV, no computers and no internet.

(Freeping however is permitted.)

If you’re just going to watch movies and play video games, stay home.

How close are you to the wifi signal?

Does your rv have a metal roof or sides?

Sounds like you need a booster. The good ones are pricey.

You can get a wifi gizmo for your PC for $10. If laptop, it already has Wifi.

What you really want is a wifi gizmo, a USB cable that it plugs into, and a metal mesh coleander (like what you strain spaghetti in).

This will be highly directive. Cut a hole in the base of the mesh, insert the Wifi recvr attached to USB cable. Plug cable into laptop. Disable laptop’s built in wifi.

When you plug the USB cable into the laptop it will find it as a wifi source. Windows takes care of this.

Then rotate the coleander to point at McDs or the campground’s transmitter. It can be quite a distance away. As in miles. The gain on the coleander dish is that powerful.

Presto, free wifi from campgrounds.

Wifi or Data? If it’s a weak data signal then nothing can be done.

If you are still within cellphone range and you are using an Android phone, I would recommend EasyTether Pro, either from their website or from Google Play. The cost is $9.99 one time for each phone.

This lets you tether a PC (Windows or Mac) to your cellphone, and then use your phone's 4G/5G network for the internet.

You would need to install a PC-side driver from the EasyTether website to connect to the cellphone. You can then connect your PC to your cellphone, either via Bluetooth or USB.
