Exactly. This is a retconned version of events. They were showing two artist sketches, for two suspects, based on witness testimony, not one.
They eventually stopped talking about that little wrinkle in the story.

Wouldn’t he have “ignited” the fuses BEFORE heading towards his getaway car?
OR were these fuses laying in the street for everyone to see?

I was at ground zero within about 30 minutes of the bombing. The collective law enforcement agencies, both federal and state established a temporary command post about two blocks north of the Murrah building. I was there with most of the LE agency heads when the reports came in of witnesses seeing two middle eastern men fleeing the area in a small pickup truck just moments before the bomb went off. These witnesses were very clear. It was so reliable that there were agency heads muttering out loud how we should nuke the Middle East into a big pile of glass. A few years later, I was asked by Jayne Davis to interview a few of the witnesses she had located in research for her book, “The Third Terrorist.” One witness in particular stuck out to me. Her name escapes me now, but it’s in the book. Anyway, this woman was a waitress at the Roadrunner Bar at 10th and May Avenue in OKC. It was proven that McVeigh spent the evening before the bombing at that bar. This lady said that McVeigh met with and spent a good deal of time with a Middle Eastern man. She was very definitive and believable. There is no question in my mind, from what I saw and heard, that there was involvement by Middle Eastern terrorists. It is the belief of many in Oklahoma that Bill Clinton wanted that angle quashed because he was working on his legacy of bringing peace to the Middle East. That may or may not be, but too many people saw McVeigh with a middle eastern man, and too many say two ME men fleeing the scene in the seconds before the bombing.
Has anyone been there to find out?
As I said that day, he had the right target.
Too bad about the kids.
Or perhaps it’s not a coincidence that the first WTC bombing a couple years before, which was arranged with the assistance of an FBI provacateur, also used a rented truck and also used an ammonium nitrate bomb.
The FBI said in that case that they thought they had sabotaged the bomb so it wouldn’t work.... oops!

I am still looking for those “Six swarthy men of Middle Eastern extraction, in blue running suits fleeing the scene.” as was reported on ABC news that morning.

I’m sure that if Terry were to ask, that sometime between his 1st and 23rd consecutive hours he spends in his cell, a guard would give him a piece of paper and a crayon so that he could write down a name or two.
Odd that all the FBI agents knew not to show there that day.
Someone knew exactly where McVeigh was to pick him up 90 minutes after the blast.
And McVeigh was prosecuted and executed in record time.
Exactly what I was going to ask. John Doe #1 was McVeigh, but they quickly stopped talking about John Doe #2 (it was NOT co-conspirator, Terry Nichols)
I remember this! After McVeigh was arrested and surrounded by cops, one of the cops turned around and looked out at the camera. I suddenly saw a very close resemblance to bomber #2 and I wondered if that was the second man!
I seem to remember that there first responder communication recordings that referenced other explosives. There was also an article by a British military expert that claimed that the bomb alleged to be used wouldn’t operate the way the FBI claimed it did.
Didn’t Fox Mulder address the root of the scenario in the movie?
The whole narrative of this is pure BS..
The building collapsed because the center support columns were sheared off at the 3rd floor. The blast radius of the bomb could not possibly have done that.
If somehow the truck bomb was powerful enough, the crater would have been enormous. Someone, ANYONE, show me a picture of the blast crater. Not a drawing, or an artists rendition, but an actual photograph.
A man was walking between the building and the truck when the building went up. He survived. He was thrown through a plate glass window across the street. How was this possible if the truck blew up the building?
