Molson Coors warns it will NOT tolerate attacks on staff who authorized Miller Lite ad that apologized for past bikini promos - after insisting feminist clip is not 'remotely controversial'

Molson Coors, the owner of Miller Lite, is defending the marketing executives behind a recent TV ad that drew fury from some conservatives, warning that it will not tolerate personal attacks on its employees.

The Miller ad, which aired in March for Women's History Month but has re-emerged online this week, disavows the brand's prior campaigns that relied heavily on scantily-clad women.

Molson Coors chief marketing officer Sofia Colucci came under withering online personal attacks over the ad, and took down her social media accounts in the face of hysterical right-wing outrage.

'People can take issue with our ads or our brands, but we won't stand by as people personally attack our employees—especially given that these are company decisions, and are never made by one single person,' a Molson Coors spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal on Friday.

The ad stars comedian comedian Ilana Glazer satirizing the sexist history of beer advertising, in a campaign that offers to buy back old Miller Lite posters featuring women in bikinis and turn them into compost for hops used by female brewers.

The Miller Lite saga -- and Molson Coors' response -- stands in contrast to rival Anheuser-Busch's handling of a parallel controversy over Bud Light.

On April 1, transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney posted a video on Instagram of herself cracking open a custom can of Bud Light featuring an image of her face, which she received as a gift from the brewer in a marketing collaboration.

Three days after Mulvaney's post, Kid Rock posted a video of himself shooting cases of Bud Light, and the controversy exploded -- but Anheuser-Busch retreated into silence for weeks after issuing a terse statement.

It's hard to screw up beer, but they're still trying.

Yep, as I said, next will come the lectures and then women-splaining.

BTW, the article writer here says: “Miller Lite posters featuring women...”

Has Miller Lite answered “what is a woman” yet?

Stop funding these international conglomerates that hate you. If you can’t make your own, buy from local manufacturers.

The hypocrite woman in the ad who attacked beer advertisements using women in bikinis, has herself made ads in bikinis and also topless.

This Einhorn (Ace Ventura Pet Detective reference) look-alike is a filthy hypocrite. She's just mad that she looks like a tranny from a movie and that men don't want to see her in a bikini.

Did they give out an e-mail address where former customers could tell them to FOAD? That would be extra special.

This is defiance. They are daring you to do the same to Coors what you did to Bud.

These big corporations are asking for trouble.

Announcing you are an enemy of your customers is not very clever....

Time is on our side.

They won’t tolerate it. Great business model, screw what your customers think.
Maybe they don’t understand what lite means. Not fewer customers, fewer calories!

They had a pause ad come up in a show I was streaming last night. I paused the show and two cans of Miller Lite appeared on screen, with the slogan, “Have a break with us.”

They know what they have done. I don’t drink, but they can go to Hell. Enough of their damned feminists. Thirty years of this crap now.

Used to be a great beer back in the 60s & 70s — we’d drive from Iowa in college, to Kansas to buy 30-40 cases — to bring back to Des Moines for the frat house and friends. I made the trips in my ‘

It seems like a campaign to damage the company's brand and reduce their sales. Why publicly say that the decision to run a particular ad was not made by the executive in charge, but by the entire company? If that is true just what does that executive actually do at the company?

Are they really just a token, hired for diversity reasons?
