Hope you get to visit the other battlefields. I got to Shiloh in early November one year. It was nice enough to be able to walk around without a jacket, and there was hardly anyone there. One of the enlisted men who ended up with an Ohio regiment at Shiloh was Andrew Jackson Smith. He had escaped the plantation with another young man, (the plantation owner was his father). His owner, who was fighting for the Confederacy, had told him he was going to take him with him when he left to rejoin his regiment, so he ran. His mother was still on the plantation at the time. I don't believe he ever saw her again. Andy ended up running into an Ohio Regiment, and became the servant of the Colonel of the Regiment. While he was taking the Colonel's horse from the field, he was hit with a spent bullet, in the head. Fortunately, it was just a graze, but he carried the scar the rest of his life.
The Colonel suffered from chronic diarrhea, and got sent home on furlough to recuperate. He took Andy with him. It was while he was at the Colonel's home that he heard about the recruitment for the 54th Mass. By the time he got to Boston the unit was full, so he enlisted in the 55th Mass. which was formed from the overflow of men who had showed up to enlist. They ended up in S.C. At the Battle of Honey Hill, he saved the State and National Flags when the Standard Bearers had been killed.
I met his grandson, and two of his daughters. His grandson and Smith's one daughter lived in Indiana. The other daughter was living in New Jersey. They had been born from a second marriage when Andy Smith was much older. The family, with the research I had done on Andy Smith was able to secure a Congressional Medal of Honor for him, for his having saved the flags at Honey Hill. In January 2001 before Clinton left office, they attended the ceremony in the Roosevelt Room of The White House. Teddy Roosevelt's family received the Medal of Honor for him the same day. I was invited to another ceremony at the Pentagon, but wasn't able to get the time off from work.
I particularly liked going to Gettysburg during the winter months, as it is southern enough so they don't get much snow. I liked going then, because I basically had the battlefield to myself, and most of the restaurants were open. You didn't have to fight the traffic then either, like you do during the summer months. I used to go to the Relic and Book shows they had during the summer, usually around the dates of the battle. It was horrible trying to find parking. I think the farthest Civil War sites I got to were Fort Pillow, Tennessee, and Port Hudson. Louisiana.
Trump would have won easily in 2020 except for his impetuous mouth.

Amen Brother!!! We could be looking at another lost election if even a small part of the eighty million keep up the anti-Trump rhetoric. I just love being shat upon by those with wavering loyalty.
Trust not in the arm of flesh says the good book more than once, but pulling Ron out of FL, is a double loss. Especially when he is an unknown at the Presidential level. A guaranteed FL win beats a split vote should Ron run.

In my opinion, we get one shot or it’s another democrat resident of the White House. After that it’s curtains for “We the People” whether Democrat or Republican.
