Summer solstice 2023 today: When is it and what causes the year’s longest day?
BBC Science Focus Magazine ^ | 21st June, 2023 at 08:50 | Toby Saunders

"The summer solstice in 2023 will take place today, Wednesday 21 June, at precisely 3:58pm BST in the UK and 10:58am ET / 7:58am PT in the US. Contrary to popular belief, the solstice is an exact moment and not the entire day."

This article states that the solstice occurs at 1058 “ET”
It should read EDST, Eastern Daylight Savings Time.

BST is British Summer Time which is what they call daylight savings and not UTC which was once known as Greenwich mean time.

Fire up the BBQ, “Winter is coming.”

Got my sacrifice already squirming on the stone, waiting for the right moment...

That’s cool!

I’m at Stonehenge with my laptop. I’m in a lawn chair with my feet up on a sarsen stone. Feeling the vibe for sure. /s

What’s the duration of
the “moment?”

Regardless, it’s FINALLY summer here in Florida so I can put away the jackets and sweaters and start wearing shorts and tee shirts.

It must be Glo-Bull warming because this has been the coolest spring I can ever remember. Usually the AC would be on in mid April and now on June 20 I had to put it on for the first time this year.

It reminds me of April 12 1972 with THE COMING ICE AGE causing us to have temps of 104.

I am riding my bicycle to three public summer solstice parties. Maybe four.

Taking pictures wasn't my goal but I took some. I told my wife there was a free music event in the public garden two bus stops from us. But she had a busy day so she stayed home. She said the place is too small but I showed with this picture of the crowd that the place opens up in the back and is worth visiting. There was music for children earlier. When I was there, a band was playing German rock songs. Was a great relaxed yet party atmosphere. I didn't see anyone I know but people were very nice.

I arrived the other side of the underpass, there was loud hard rock music blasting through it. A band had set up on one end (you can see them at the corner across the boulevard). It was great but I mean HELLA LOUD. After some song i crossed and realized there was a South American band playing at the other corner (you can see in the photo too) and they were great. Luckily the rock band across the street was directing their sound through the tunnel in the opposite direction. Across the street to my right of taking this photo is the start of the Berlin Wall. Also there is a pirate themed restaurant at the wall that has a stage area, with a band playing rock music.

There was throngs of people. It was crazy. At one point I decided to ride my bike and follow the throngs of people that were going up and down the boulevard over Warschauer Bridge. I made a right where there were crowds of people. I took these photos to show my wife how I followed the throngs of people and came to the source... two drinks shops that were across the corner from each other. Haha! The pictures don't do the crowd size justice with people constantly going in and out.

That's all the pictures I have but I was at a few other places also.
Have A Great Summer!!
