Sinéad O’Connor, ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer, dead at 56

Sinead O’Connor, the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer, has died at the age of 56, according to The Irish Times.

She released 10 studio albums during her record-setting career.

Her rendition of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” was named the number one world single in 1990 at the Billboard Music Awards. The won a Grammy the following year for her album “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got.”

O’Conner changed her name to Shuhada’ Sadaqat in 2018 after she decided to convert to Islam.

The Irish songstress hitmaker in January 2022 lost her 17-year-old son, who she said, “decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.”

At the time, O’Connor said she had torn up the photo to protest sexual abuse of children by the Catholic Church. However, she recently revealed that the story goes much deeper. “My intention had always been to destroy my mother’s photo of the pope,” she said. “It represented lies and liars and abuse. The type of people who kept these things were devils like my mother.”

Honestly, I give her credit for exposing the church's sins. The biggest scandal in my lifetime.

Most of the people I have known who have had troubled lives eventually come to a saving grace in Christ. Her troubles only began if she converted to Islam.
