This is a very encouraging read on the changing relationship between the democrat party and its traditionally reliable California Hispanic voter. As first, second and third generation immigrants attempt the ascent to the middle class, they face the same democrat obstacles we all must deal with. VDH sees a dramatic realignment taking place.

I watched this last night and thought it interesting. BUT, I have doubts that California will swing back as Victor suggests

This is speculation. As of now, I see no evidence of this actually happening.

I haven’t read the article, but if it’s anything like Texas, where the Hispanic vote often goes 40% Republican, it basically ends the chances of the Leftists getting much mileage out of them - and it’s also the reason Texas is still solid red, despite all the claims of the Democrats for the past 20 or so years about flipping the state.

Two caveats - first, most Texan Hispanics who vote have been here for multiple generations, and second, the new waves of migrants are often not Hispanic (the Dems see much more value in diverse voters who are still around 90 Democrat, than Hispanic voters)

The class of Hispanic voter VDH is referring to is the second and third generation today who are now the roofing, plumbing, retail, electrical company owners. These are traditional dem voters who, as they transition away from dependency, wisen up to the democrat catastrophe.

I am still hoping for “The Big” one to destroy everything along the great fault lines. Nothing less is likely to save KKKalifonia.

I recently watched this video of Peter Frampton in Oakland, CA (1977). I thought, no way a concert crowd could look like that today in California.

I suppose it depends upon how many Hispanics can navigate the dem roadblocks and actually get to the middle class. A middle class California Hispanic voter, I hope, isn’t as stupid as you fear he might be.

I know who Hanson is referring to. I'll believe it when I see it.

If the California coast, tomorrow, ran through the Central Valley, California would once again be the promised land.

I doubt this too. I think it is wishful thinking. While rank-n-file Hispanics may tend to be ‘conservative’; at the political level they too play the race/ethnic game. i.e. the Hispanic Caucus, LaRaza or whatever they call themselves now. MEChA or many other Latino/Hispanic political groups. Race before anything else

Whites and the West are incredibly naive.

Are you a Californian? I hope and pray he is right although I doubt California will ever be the promised land it was in the Nixon, Reagan eras.

This is the same happy talk about immigration that Californians have been fed for 40 years.

It’s self serving BS that the neocon wing of the GOP has been pushing for decades. VDH too often sides with them.

The truth is that immigrants both legal and illegal vote to the left of American natives. They transform society in culture and politics when their numbers are too big.

As they overwhelmed ‘evil’ WASP suburban America, California became what it is today. You’re state is next.

Last time I checked, Republicans were still winning elections.

Am I incorrect, or something?

I agree. His speculation seems to me to be a final Hail-Mary-Pass made by a civic nationalist who is in the verge of finally realizing what his civic nationalism has always been: a pipe dream myth.
