These “incredible doses” are old news in real medicine. Vitamin C is safer than water. Dr Frederick Klenner used similar doses 75 years ago https://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/hemila/klenner.htm#mozTocId780554 .

But it is nice to see modern medicine catching up.

Sounds similar to Pauling’s findings.

Linus Pauling was a great chemist and vitamin C popularizer; but he didn’t treat and cure actual patients with vitamin C like Dr Frederick Klenner.

This treatment has been known for decades but since it’s cheap, don’t expect it to go anywhere.

My dad got sepsis in the hospital and it caused his death.

Promising results from an initial clinical trial show that sodium ascorbate—a pH-balanced formulation of vitamin C—is effective in treating sepsis.

This is almost too good to be true. Hope the research holds up...

The advantage of a hospital treatment is they can charge an exorbitant amount for an inexpensive treatment; so perhaps they will be more likely to use it due to the high profit margin.

Vitamin C in high doses is good for many things. But few docs will tell their patients that.

Because it is cheap. I'm sure they will be more interested if they can change the label and charge a 2000% markup.

Exactly. It appears from the article that they administered via IV. I'd like to see a similar study with C dissolved in water, and consumed.

I no longer have as much faith as I used to in either the medical establishment, or in published studies: it is dollar-driven, not really data-driven.

After fighting the clot-shots trolls, I tend to have less patience than I used to with people pushing the consensus narrative “because SCIENCE™!”

People in intensive care for sepsis aren’t able to consume enough vitamin C with water to help themselves. But at home battling the flu that would work. And Livon Labs lipo-spheric vitamin C, estimated to be 5 times more effective than IV vitamin C, would help anyone who is still conscious.

This study used a much higher initial dosage than did previous studies.
In addition, this study used sodium ascorbate rather than ascorbic acid (vitamin C). The difference in the pH of these two compounds is quite significant.
