Things are far worse now than in previous decades.

I agree. The stuff that is going up quickly, and by a lot are medical care, food, energy. All essentials. Clothing is cheaper than it was in the '70s, and the quality is at least as good for the most. Even at the height of '70s inflation (that best comparable), candy bars stayed at 15 cents for a long time, now it is $1.39 for a regular size, more at the convenience store.

You are right the [real] numbers are far worse than in previous decades. At least decades ago they tried to report the real numbers.

Not too long ago FJB read his prepared cards into the media echo chamber that the inflation we all were seeing was “transitory.” implying it would not become a chronic condition. Nobody seems to be trying to nail his shoes to the floor on this lie ...
