2024 battle for Senate majority: These five seats held by Democrats are most likely to flip
Fox News ^ | 11/19/23 | Paul Steinhauser

It was the announcement Senate Democrats were dreading.

When it came, it appeared to strike a major blow to their hopes of holding their razor-thin Senate majority in the 2024 elections.

"I have made one of the toughest decisions of my life and decided that I will not be running for re-election to the United States Senate," Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia announced earlier this month.

Manchin, a moderate Democrat and former governor, won over 60% of the vote in his 2012 re-election, but his margin of victory fell to just three points in 2018.

The consensus was that Manchin was the only Democrat who could win in West Virginia next year after his state shifted dramatically to the right over the past decade. Former President Donald Trump carried West Virginia by nearly 40 points in the 2020 election.

Democrats control the U.S. Senate with a 51-49 majority, but Republicans are looking at a favorable Senate map in 2024, with Democrats defending 23 of the 34 seats up for grabs. Three of those seats are in red states that Trump carried in 2020 - West Virginia, Montana and Ohio.

Five other blue-held seats are in key swing states narrowly carried by President Biden in 2020 - Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

"Democrats have multiple pathways to protect and strengthen our Senate majority and are in a strong position to achieve this goal," Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman David Bergstein argued in a statement after Manchin's announcement.

They have to be cheating. I cannot imagine why ANYONE would be voting democrat. Even Michael Rappaport, the vicious Trump hater said he’s voting for Trump! I couldn’t believe it, that’s how much Democrats are effin up. If they win 2024, then there’s no question whatsoever they cheated.

Haven’t seen any state polls for these seats. Doesn’t seem promising.

I’m going to hazard a guess here that NH MAY be on that list.

Sununu is reputed to be looking at a senate run. Considering how handily he won the governorship in NH over the years, he had a lot of democrat support.

*IF* that holds true, he could get in as senator, but how he votes is a crap shoot.

Pennsylvania has two certifiable mental retards in the Senate (Bob Casey and Hulk Fetterman).

I do not see any Republican taking out the imbecile Bob Casey. Casey will die in a lunatic asylum before he leaves the Senate. /spit

American politics - including Trump's election in 2016 - must be very difficult for you to understand, then.

Lots of people vote Democrat because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate.

The only thing people hate worse than Democrats - is Republicans.

There you have it. Once an election is stolen, it stays stolen. Hats off to those who continue the fight in those states, but... well, let's not go there. The best thing to do is to pray over it and donate as one can.

We need butts in the seats. Same with Justice in Va. Mooney would be better but the former rat will have an easier time winning.

If the Republican nominees for those seats are MAGA, the RNC Uniparty will cut them off financially and turn a blind eye to Democrat cheating as was done in 2022.

I read an article on it yesterday.

Here it is, well he said ‘it’s on the table’ which is amazing in itself because this nut was a vicious Trump hater.

Is Gov. Sununu term-limited out in NH?

NH does not have term limits, but the gov office is two year terms.

New Hampshire does not limit terms for any elected officials, although elected officials also have relatively short terms in the Granite State. State representatives, senators, executive councilors, and the governor all face election every two years.
