Was just viewing toy commercials from the 50's and 60's on YouTube. One chemistry set came with the capabilities for nickel plating. No doubt about it, we were badass back in the day.

My older brother was into those chemistry sets. Was able to make his own gunpowder, no questions asked.

I don’t care what anyone says, gift is not a verb!

What is the actual likelihood of that happening? They shoot foam balls, or foam darts tipped with a pretty soft, malleable plastic, at a velocity that’s probably less than 100 fps.

I have to agree, kids were bad assed back in the day. We learned by trial and error. dumb assism didnt last long in most kids.

air powered pellet guns, rock fights, shootouts with roman candles and bottle rockets, climbing trees, no bike helmets, snow sledding down hills with trees at the bottom, chemistry sets with bunson burners, wood burning sets,

yep, dumbazs's learned quick.

Clackers. If you had them going fast and one of them hit you in the temple, you died. On the bright side, you could use them to defend yourself against killer bees.

β€œBattery-powered gadgets like racecars and dolls, for example, can lead to burns in the throat and stomach lining if the coin-shaped batteries are swallowed.”

In a race car or doll??? Hm…

“Weaponry toys like Nerf guns could hit kids in the eyes, resulting in pain, blindness, and even eye loss.”

Nerf guns were invented to PREVENT that.

“Weaponry toys” suddenly became bad when Bobby Kennedy was murdered by a Palestinian immigrant in 1968. The news media went berserk over the “Glorification of violence” on TV, movies and toy guns (Actually TV and movies back then were mostly safe being filmed under the Hays Code. Once it was removed and replaced with a joke of a Ratings System(GMRX) they reshot scenes to add more blood, guts, violence and sex. Lots of SEX to get the “R” and “X” rating.

***Toys with button batteries or magnets***

I still remember getting wind up toys. One of my favorite was a train set in 1952. Yes, I am that old!

It’s a wonder I survived. Real guns and explosives. What a combination.
