Legal Analyst Warns of Critical 'Problem' With Hunter Biden's Lawyer

Legal analyst and attorney Jonathan Turley warned on Saturday of a critical "problem" within the complicated relationship between Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden's son, and his lawyer Kevin Morris.

Hunter Biden has been on Republicans' radar amid a House impeachment inquiry into President Biden. GOP members on the House Oversight Committee have claimed that the president has been involved in and benefited from his son's foreign business dealings. The White House has repeatedly denied that the president had any involvement in his son's dealings. President Biden, meanwhile, has called the inquiry a "baseless political stunt."

On Thursday, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer, a Kentucky Republican leading the inquiry against President Biden, issued a statement following a transcribed interview with Morris, a Hollywood entertainment lawyer, which occurred earlier in the day.

"Kevin Morris's massive financial support to Hunter Biden raises ethical and campaign finance concerns for President Joe Biden," Comer said in his statement. "Shortly after meeting Hunter Biden at a Joe Biden campaign event in 2019, Kevin Morris began paying Hunter Biden's tax liability to insulate then-presidential candidate Joe Biden from political liability."

Comer claimed that Morris admitted during the interview that he had loaned "at least $5 million" to Hunter. Morris' lawyer, Bryan Sullivan, said Comer's statement had "cherry‐picked, out of context and totally misleading descriptions of what Mr. Morris said."

Newsweek reached out to Sullivan and Hunter Biden's lead counsel Abbe Lowell via email for comment.

Meanwhile, Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, wrote an opinion piece for The Hill on Saturday explaining the relationship between Hunter and Morris, and how it can spell trouble.

Turley cited a statement Sullivan gave to CBS News earlier this month, in which he said: "Hunter is not only a client of Kevin's...

Morris loaned the Brandons loot? Can he write that off as a total loss?

A lawyer not just working for free but giving millions o dollars to a client?

This just does not happen.

Something illegal and fraudulent is going on here.

China funneling millions to the Bidens through Morris the conduit. If I’m not mistaken, there are tax implications when money is “gifted” like this.

Then surely either Morris or Hunter should be able to produce the loan document stating terms and payback procedures.

If it is a gift, then Morris would pay any tax due. If it is a loan, then H would owe the tax on money forgiven by Morris.
Press accounts suggest a loan.

Not sure who the money is actually coming from but the Biden impeachment investigation empowers Congress to find out.

The Biden crime family has pushed the envelope of plausible deniability for half a century.

They may have crossed the line on this one.

The money could be coming from China, Ukraine or Iran or the drug cartels. My first bet would be China and the cartels.

Biden: "Where did all the money you loaned me come from?"

Morris: "None of your business."

Biden: "OK, let's have lunch."

Morris: "Chinese or Mexican?"

If you or I did that, the IRS would impute to us a tax liability based upon fair interest rates we should be receiving for the loan and send us a bill including interest and penalties.

Oh, and the guy who got the loan and wasn’t repaying it - that would become imputed income.

FTA

It is increasingly hard to discern what the Morris/Biden relationship was at any given moment:
<><>Morris is a hard core Democrat, an activist, a campaign donor,
<><>he was also depicted as Hunter’s lender, his lawyer, his friend, an art client
<><>whether the Morris/Biden role-playing was entirely calculated is significant
<><>the two met meeting at a Joe Biden fund-raiser in 2019,
<><>Morris ‘loaned’ the president’s son at least $5 million.
<><>repayment was not required til Biden’s presidential election
<><> the ‘loans’ may ultimately be forgiven.
<><>left unclear is ‘when’ Morris lent Hunter money and ‘when’ he took on other roles.
<><>Morris insists it was all standard ‘loan’ stuff.
<><>except Morris is not a bank, and Hunter was routinely called his legal ‘client’
<><>the Morris/Hunter role smells of de facto campaign contributions to Joe Biden.
<><>Morris’ role-playing to shield Biden’s campaign from political liabilities is disturbing,
<><>professional ethical rules are designed to avoid a blurring of client/lawyer roles.
<><>a a member, Morris is in violation of the Calif Bar’s Rules of Professional Conduct.
<><>Morris has now admitted to providing personal funds to bail out Hunter
<><>Hunter has been confirmed to be a client – or reasonably believes himself to be Morris’s client
<><>this violates the Rules of Professional Conduct and well-known norms of the legal profession.

More than that, Morris needs to show where he got the $5 million to loan Hunter.

Wouldn’t that be the balls if he got the money from one of Hunter’s shell companies. You know. The one he set up with the Chinese “businessman”.

So when Hunter met hard-core Democrat Morris at the Biden fund-raiser,
Morris said, “How do you do, I heard you need a $5 million bail out.”

Which is to say Morris was prepped and ready to assist Hunter.
All they had to do is wait for Joe to launder the $5 million through
a phony grant given to a do-good federal agency “for the children.”

Morris has a serious image problem. If I was casting a movie about New York or Chicago mobsters, Kevin Morris would be my hands-down favorite. What is it with these rich old men who can’t be bothered with personal grooming or any semblance of fashion that’s appropriate for the venue? A show of hands, please - who would show up in front of Congress wearing a cheesy plaid jacket, T-shirt, with dirty long hair and 3 days growth of beard? He looks no better than Hunter after a week of smoking crack, drinking, and paying for sex with prostitutes. I’d surely like to know the source of his wealth. If he’s not on the Taxman’s radar, he should be. Everything about this guy just screams “crook.”

So Morris is actually defending himself in this case, not the Brandon spawn.
