Like most African Americans, I come from a family with a history that includes generations of enslavement. But unlike most, the men and women who held my ancestors in bondage were not white, they were Native American—people who were themselves oppressed by the process that led to my family’s freedom.

Slavery existed everywhere, from the beginning of the existence of human beings. No one group bears the whole responsibility for it.
If everyone who can claim historical or ancestral slavery were permitted reparations, everyone alive would be paying them.
A complete lie. No need to read further.
Mine were Scots Irish indentured servants. I can assure that if they were mistreated while fulfilling their obligation, the perpetrator would have not survived.

I certainly won’t say her slave ancestor was lucky to be sold to the west, but had he been sold into Arab/Muslim slavery, he might have been castrated. And if not, highly unlikely he would have been allowed to breed, as slavery wasn’t inherited by children in the Arab world. She probably wouldn’t exist.

Are their White parts going to have to pay their Black parts?
The whole reparations thing is ridiculous.
Too many people today are slaves to sin and don’t know it.
Everyone’s ancestor was a slave at one point or another.
It’s doubtful that there’s a human alive today who at some point in history didn’t have an ancestor who was some fashion of a slave.
My ancestors (Irish) came to America as indentured servants, slaves although one never hears about them.
