I’ll field that one. I’m a retired public school teacher (see post #29). Things changed in my school district around the year 2000. Student and staff safety was no longer a priority. Instead, it was all about the numbers.
Principals got bonuses and promotions when they kept suspension rates low. So violent bullies were no longer suspended, let alone expelled. And the state passed laws “protecting” special ed students. It became very difficult to suspend those students, and they knew it.
Oh, and staff members were forbidden to call the city police. That would mean bad publicity for the district. Can’t have that!
What I can’t quite figure out is parent reaction. Parents rarely called the police, and even more rarely sued the district.
Could the parents be afraid that their bullied kid would be targeted in the neighborhood as well? I dunno. Maybe.

She's not trans. She's non-binary (a totally lazy gender identity that requires absolutely nothing more than a declaration).
Her family calls her a girl. She has a girl's name. She looks like a girl.
And she was using the girls' restroom, per Oklahoma law that mandates students use the restroom of their biological gender.
No, I didn't check her genetic profile but I'm pretty confident she was an actual girl.

I tried reading an article on this person on the gay site, The Advocate, and the article kept using they, their, etc. pronouns. It gets confusing when they were describing others in the bathroom. Enough of these crazies changing the definition of words.
My observation as well. Non-binary "they/thems"tend to be teenage girls going through a phase for attention.

Girls that used to wear guys clothing were called Tomboys.
Girls that wear guys’ clothing still consider themselves girls and have normal attraction to boys, even though some call them Tomboys. The choice of clothing has nothing to do with sex, nothing to do with hiding gender, but everything to do with comfort and outdoor practicality, and sometimes, security. We “Tomboys” have never been confused about our gender.
The whackadoodle identity crisis issues we see today are something else entirely, born of confusion and chaos.
