Broncos Cutting Russell Wilson in $85 million Disaster
New York Post ^ | March 4, 2024 | Christian Arnold

Russell Wilson is soon to be a former Denver Bronco. After a tumultuous 2023 season under new head coach Sean Payton, the Broncos told the veteran quarterback that they would be parting ways with him after the start of the new league season on March 13.

The team’s official announcement came just minutes after NFL insider Ian Rapoport had broken the news shortly after 4 p.m. Monday.

“We spoke with Russell Wilson today to inform him of his release after the start of the league year,” the Broncos said in a statement “On behalf of the Broncos, we thank Russell for his contributions and dedication to our team while wishing him the best as he continues his career.

This is stupid. He wasn't that bad, they might as well keep him and not cripple the team under the salary cap.

Hard to say which is the worst trade & sign: This or DeShaun Watson.

NFL teams are desperate to get “that guy.” So much so they will wager huge sums of money. Right now “that guy” is Patrick Mahomes.

Meanwhile Brock Purdy makes less than some college QBs. I think some teams will be more cautious in the future and look to improve through the draft.

But who the heck gives a flip about the NFL.   Only girly men who think it's OK for the NFL to hate their fans?

America loves the NFL. It's the #1 TV spectator game in the US.

I love college football and the NFL. More so the last several years since I live in KC.

Its woke butt doesn't deserve to be.   Players disrespecting our National Anthem and our flag.   Kowtowing to China.   Supporting Transgenderism along with LGBTQ+.

Both horrible signings - but deshaun was 5 - 1 when he got hurt - at least he can still play. Wilson is washed.

Watson is worse to the tune of over 200 million and years of no 1st round draft choices. The “mistake on the lake” always comes first in stupidity

"...they might as well keep him and not cripple the team under the salary cap."

But it's worse than that even.
They gave up two 1st round and two 2nd round picks for him. And now they:

(a) Have squat for draft picks,
(b) are saddled with 85 million in dead money against the cap,
(c) Still have no QB

(What ever happened to Craig Morton and the Orange Crush days?)

Sit down with a stopwatch the next time you watch an NFL game, and see what really happens as you piss away your time.

You will spend three and a half hours watching about 13-15 minutes of football.

The NFL is a huge success because America is filled with morons.

My eyes were opened when I lived in Australia for 25 years. The game of rugby league is far superior to American football. Games last 80 minutes and are 90% non-stop. There are no "offensive" or "defensive" teams. The same players stay on the field and must fill the roles of offense and defense. The ball-handling skills of the players are breath-taking, along with the kicking skills -- you must kick the conversion from where the player who made the "touch-down" crossed the line, as opposed to American football where the conversion is always attempted in the middle of the field. Lots of conversions in rugby are made with the kicker just a couple of feet from the sideline -- very impressive. I think this is why rugby league doesn't get much tv time over here. You would have huge numbers American football fans being red-pilled.

American football has one thing in common with soccer that makes them two of the dumbest sports ever invented.

They're the only sports where the clock runs after the whistle blows and the ball is not in play.

Absolutely retarded.

The solution to this is NFL Red Zone. I'd given up on the NFL for all the same reasons that most others have in the past few years. But for pure football, NFL Red Zone can't be beat. If a game pauses, they move on to the next game. It can get a little hectic but it's the best way to watch the NFL.

In a half hour I can see 30 minutes of football and get a good feel for what's going on around the league, then get on with my day.

Denver Broncos? NFL?

The racists that knelt with Communist organizations such as Black Lives MatterTM can go pound sand. May the league disappear into the dustbin of history.

Something is wrong with a sport that locks in the money without any guarantee of performance. It’s their fault, from the head office down.

I played rugby and soccer in college and football in high school. Soccer is frustrating because it avoids body contact. Lots of fakers too. Rugby is the toughest sport on grass. Full time athletes play that game and know they are in a class of their own. Rugby was tougher than me. I got injured out every year from brutal hits.
