In my younger days used to look forward to the end of DST because the bars would usually close at 2:00am but with falling back would gave me an extra hour to drink 😆
I live in the PNW. I am now retired, but when its winter, going to work in the morning and home in the evening under standard time meant it was always dark. In the summer, DST meant you could do longer activities after work in the light. Maybe in southern states keeping on standard time would work, but the northern states DST is necessary.
LOL 🤣 I think even she will laugh at your response.
We late-sleepers like having that extra hour of daylight later.
“So go to work earlier.”
That’s... literally what pushing the clocks forward does.
“Are you that beholden to a clock that you think forcing everyone to reset their clocks twice a year so you think the sun arises when you want it to makes sense?!”
Yes, actually. Because the whole world is. Appointments, meetings, court and hearing times...and that’s just for work. “Go to work earlier” isn’t a feasible solution for 99% of the world.
Yawn.
A fellow Hoosier. My youngest son is in the Navy now, NAS Jacksonville. I grew up in Lake County and was on central time, so we never had late evening daylight like I do now. Now that I’m in central Indiana (Peru) DST is even more of a pain, and having Long Covid now makes it even worse. It’ll take me 2-3 weeks to adjust.
PNW?
Pacific NW. Dark at 4PM in the winter under standard time. I used to only see the sun on the weekends if it wasn’t raining.
Just go to Zulu in the entire USA and be done with it.
I agree - I also hate to change them (I have 10 of them). But I'd miss the longer evenings during summer. My vote: Keep it at daylight savings time all year long.
But that ain't gonna happen...
1 Â Sunrise: 6:54am Sunset: 4:13pm | 2 Â Sunrise: 6:55am Sunset: 4:12pm | 3 Â Sunrise: 6:56am Sunset: 4:12pm | 4 Â Sunrise: 6:57am Sunset: 4:12pm | 5 Â Sunrise: 6:58am Sunset: 4:12pm | 6 Â Sunrise: 6:59am Sunset: 4:12pm | 7 Â Sunrise: 7:00am Sunset: 4:12pm |
Like DST, wish it was permanent.
I like the time change, and would love it if they left it as DST equivalence in my NW State. LEAVE IT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.
All this is untrue.
I love the outdoors and DST gives me more time in the evenings outdoors to do the many things I have to do in our rural estate.
Don’t ask me to get up early in am to do all I need to do then during standard time.
I thrive on sunlight and it is far more practical to have it available in the PM rather than the AM.
Oh shut up Nathan, you're a dick head.
DST is my preference and if you don't like it then stay in bed.....Sheesh!
It’s Daylight Saving Time. There is only one “S”.
During these long hot Texas summers, why anybody wants the sun staying up until 9:00 PM is beyond me.
Stop tinkering with the clocks!
