A 9-foot-long alligator in Florida tore the hand off a fisherman Sunday afternoon..
The attack happened when the man was fishing in a golf course pond in Leesburg..
While the guy was on the ground, the gator got the guy in the hand, and the two rolled...
Two 911 calls, including one by Priest’s wife, were released by Lake County Fire Rescue,...
In the first call, the caller says, “There is an alligator attacking a man in my backyard,” while during the second call, the dispatcher asks, “Is this regarding a gator attack?”
The caller reportedly responds, “Yes, he took his hand off … Hand is gone!”
Priest ..the alligator bit the man when the fisherman was reeling in a fish.
“The gator was after [the] fish, and what we don’t know is if the guy was trying to unhook the fish,” ...
Priest told the outlet that minutes before a helicopter arrived to airlift the man to an Orlando hospital, the gator released the fish and fisherman and ran back into the water.
“It’s my understanding that [The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission] can’t dispose of a human part,” Priest ... “It has to be sent to a medical facility, and so, in the odd chance that it could have been re-attached, they drove it to Orlando.”

The FWC encourages the public to move away from gators and provide them with space if encountered
Someone should have lent the guy a hand!!!
They were all too busy clapping at his landing a fish.
Yes, they do. They call them midges and they bite like a noseeum.
You are right. Snakes and heat/humidity too. Florida is horrible!
People who actually live in Florida are always telling us how horrible it is. I wonder why...
OK so I’ll carry my 45 ACP or 44 Mag if I ever decide to go fishing in Florida.
I grew up in South Florida. Lived there for over 40 years.
People here in New Mexico do not understand why I moved here.
Hurricanes and alligators are high on the list.
When I explain to them that just about any body of water big enough to hold an alligator holds an alligator, they begin to understand.
There is no natural body of water you can swim in that does not contain something that wants to sting, bite, or otherwise eat you.
Then there are the palmetto bugs...two inch long cockroaches that fly...
Five different kinds of venomous snakes.
Absolutely insane Democrats in Broward County.
And...and I am trying hard not to be racist here...but some of the most violent, white hating, black people I have ever met in my life. Every member of my family has, at one time or another, been unprovoked jumped by one or more black people, while we lived in Florida.
I can relate to that one! Several years ago I was fishing a park pond on Hilton Head Island. I had hooked a bass, a couple of pounds, and played it to the bank when I saw a disturbance in the water. As I slid the fish onto the bank, a gator shot up and grabbed it. A couple of seconds later I might have been unhooking the fish for release and had a similar outcome!
Bulldogs fan?
Unhand that man!
That’s what we need on the southern border, in the Rio Grande river, alligators, lots of them. That would be a deterrent to the illegals trying to cross. “Come on in boys, the waters fine”.
Lol! I’m a Knights(My High School team mascot) fan.
He didn’t notice a nine-foot alligator in his immediate area?!
Chubbs... also lost his hand to a gator... although Chubbs got the gator’s eye.
