No Winter Evictions Back on the Table for New York State

Posted on 03/29/2024 6:41:08 AM PDT by AbolishCSEU

Heads up to all NYS property owners (yes upstate too) Not only is "Good Cause" back on the table, but the Winter Eviction Moratorium is also on the floor in the NY Legislature.

If you want to sell your property and get out of the landlord biz, as hoards of mom and pop landlords are doing due to the overly restrictive regulations of 2019, you'll have to WAIT to evict them between October and April.

As you know, if "Good Cause" goes through, you will be unable to "not renew" a lease. All "non renewals" will be turned into a court mandated eviction procedure. The JUDGE will decide if it's a good enough reason to evict.

TOPICS: Business/Economy
KEYWORDS: eviction; moratorium; property; tenant
This is an older article from when it was originally introduced last year but it's back on the floor again: https://therealdeal.com/new-york/2023/02/17/how-to-game-a-winter-eviction-ban/

Here is the actual bill:

It’s fun to watch Democrat legislators slit their own throats by not letting people control their own assets. They are trying as hard as they can to ruin NYC and turn it into another Trenton, NJ.

Trenton is upscale compared to Paterson, Newark and Camden.

You ain’t kidding. I have a vacancy right now; all my units are located between Rochester and Syracuse in a specific small town that foolishly dissolved it’s village.

The C19 ™ eviction moratorium have the entire under 45 set thinking that paying rent is optional as is having a job.

Out of 60 responses maybe 1 is qualified (stable job, local bank with credit score above 600, no criminal record, etc.)

“If you want to sell your property and get out of the landlord biz, as hoards of mom and pop landlords are doing due to the overly restrictive regulations of 2019...”

Ditto for California.

Our family owns rentals that we have had for decades. We wish to sell them and liquidate everything because we are getting older, two of us are disabled (out of three) and we no longer wish to deal with them.

Our real estate lawyer told us with all the changes in the rental laws in California the past few years, to get the renters out would cost between $30-50,000/per renter. Fortunately for us, all are excellent long-term renters, unfortunately, none of them can afford to buy the properties.

The government (perverts and psychos) can’t take over ..until they chase private owners out...then they can Nationalize it. Put their pervert buddies in charge.
First make impossible to follow all the regulations and restrictions.and then make it unaffordable overall.

The regulations amount to a “taking” of property without compensation.

Many democrats feel that anything you own is only what the government graciously allows you to keep. You know, for the “greater good”.
