Son of prominent Dominican politician shot, killed outside Texas gas station as 3 suspects sought: police

The son of a prominent Dominican politician was shot and killed at a Houston gas station Monday, and three suspects are being sought, police said.

The Houston Police Department identified the victim as Luis Alfredo Pacheco Rojas, 34, the son of Alfredo Pacheco, the president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, the country's lower chamber of congress.

"We have spoken with Mr. Pacheco about his son’s death and advised him detectives continue efforts to determine possible motives for the shooting," an HPD statement said.

Rojas worked in the music industry in Houston and went by the name "El Pikante," according to reports.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Dominican Republic's embassy for comment.

Rojas, a 29-year-old victim, and two other men were leaving a gas station in the 2400 block of South Wayside Drive about 7:25 p.m. and got into a black SUV.

At the same time, a Dodge Charger and a Mercedes-Benz approached the SUV. Two males got out of the Dodger and one exited the Mercedes.

All three open fired on the SUV and fled the scene, police said.

Rojas was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

A shame that the gangbangers didn’t accidentally go after Lucrezia up in New Jerk state...

Based on those weapons in the photos, is this more likely to be a hit rather than gang violence?

The 2400 block of South Wayside Drive is not an awful area. It's on the South Loop (I-610) about 4.5 miles southeast of Hermann Park, Texas Children's Hospital, and the museum district, about 4.5 miles east of NRG Stadium/Astrodome, and about 4 miles north of Hobby Airport.

The kids nowadays will have two rifles stuffed into their pants. However, the age of the one shooter seems a bit old for a gang hit. And if those two rifles are the same make, that would be really odd IMHO for gang bangers. Any photos I’ve seen they just have a mish-mash of various types and brands of weapons. (Although the Glocks are pretty popular).

That's why I thought it was an assassination, probably having something to do with something going on over in Hispanola.

"China appreciates the Dominican Republic’s adherence to the one-China principle and is willing to work with the Dominican Republic..."

Well, that's a little disconcerting. China's gonna have the USA completely surrounded before you know it.

If those are automatic weapons, I’m afraid I’m gonna have to report them to the ATF. But then, maybe they HAVE paid the $200 tax, and the guns ARE legal.

If those are semiautomatic, then they’re cool...plus it looks like they ARE NOT using the evil arm braces that the ATF is all upset about. So...compliments to the shooters.

Are you in the Houston area???!

This is the southeast side of Houston. One of, if not THE worst areas/places to be, in Houston.

Locals, who first reported on this, are calling it an obvious hit.

Crews of cartel hitmen now roaming freely thru America.

Thanks Joe Biden.

Maybe call your Congress critter and explain this is beyond bad and someone needs to be arrested for it

I didn't say it was a great area, I said it wasn't an awful area. You might also be thinking of the Third Ward, which is just north of this area.

The worst area is the east side by the ship channel, Deer Park, Channelview, Cloverleaf. That's the part of Houston that flooded during Hurricane Harvey where the "Cajun Navy" had to come with their high-wheeled trucks and flat-bottomed boats to rescue the mostly poor African-American residents.

Its definitely a bad area. When the Katrina refugees arrived in 2005 it only got worse. I witnessed it at the time when my Dad was getting treated at M D Anderson and we stayed in that area for about 6 weeks.
