Right after Bill Clinton’s first scandal the media pushed all court cases where “and the accused didn’t even say he was sorry.” Dozens of them. The tears to the jury became a trend.

I notice when criminals threaten and or destroy the property of ordinary citizens or Republican officials the courts take an easy touch. But threaten or scare a Democrat official and the earth swallows you up.
Margaret O'Brien was a great child star ( she could REALLY act! ) and she was very valued because she COULD and DID cry easily on cue; for but one example.
I remember a nun who decided she could affect national policy by protesting war and nuclear power. She broke into a nuclear facility and IIR caused some damage. They sent her to prison. It just wasn’t in her worldview that they would send her, a nun, to prison. It never occurred to her she couldn’t just smack everyone with a ruler and get her way.
I would imagine this miscreate had a similar world view about her importance and place in the scheme of things.
