~The Dragon Flies Lair~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Revolutionary Tea

There was an old lady lived over the sea,
And she was an Island Queen;
Her daughter lived off in a new countrie, With an ocean of water between.
The old lady's pockets were full of gold.
But never contented was she,
So she called on her daughter to pay her a tax
Of three pence a pound on her tea,
Of three pence a pound on her tea.

"Now, Mother, dear Mother," the daughter replied,
"I shan't do the thing you ask;
I'm willing to pay a fair price for the tea,
But-never the three penny tax."
"You shall," quoth the mother, and redden'd with rage,
"For you're my daughter, you see,
And sure 'tis quite proper the daughter should pay
Her mother a tax on her tea.

The tea was conveyed to the daughter's door,
All down by the ocean's side;
And the bouncing girl pour'd out ev'ry pound,
In the dark and boiling tide.
And then she called out to the Island Queen,
"Oh, Mother, dear Mother," quoth she,
"Your tea you may have when 'tis steep'd enough,
But never a tax from me,
But never a tax from me."

The cost is great.

At first I didn't undertand this line, but if you mean what I think you mean. The cost may seem high, but you learned, like I did, who your real friends are, so the cost wasn't really yours, it is being paid by someone else who really wasted your friendship.

Feeling her color of red
pungent and tangy
alive is a life of love
and soft smooth winds

Nice presentation Feather.

I wish it was easier for me to understnad free verse, but most times it goes over my head. Comes from my lack of interest in poetry in my youth.

I prefer coffee but a good cup of tea is fine once in a while.

Thanks Sam for the kind words.

You have told me, you know what you like and that's fine. Understand is something different I think.

Wow, what a wonderful thread. I didn't know about it. Thanks for the ping, Snippy.

Excellent idea, bentfeather. Well, I don't know about posting the Sunday poem, Snippy. I wrote this poem the other day so I'll post it here, hehe.

As the McClintock fire burns in their eyes,
Their sanctimonious voices rise,
Expressing their nature both mean and tame,
They know Tom… a spoiler would remain.
Thus "Governor Bustamente!" they would gladly endorse,
No RINOs permitted, as if they are worse!

They'd rather lose badly than swallow their pride,
Their anger and frustration will the GOP divide,
In their unrealistic vision it best deceives,
The same Tombots' speech its thunderous voice gives.

O the noise, their gestures, their looks, their wrath!
Twelve percent loses - don't Tombots know math?
Knowing that Tom cannot win, but he sure spoil
The GOP's best hope in California would then foil.

I don't know squat about poetry, but that wasn;t too bad. I could understnad it anyway LOL!

Here's one that was posted on another thread that I thought was pretty good.

Trudeau/Chretien Legacy

They tried to name the highest mountain after Trudeau,

And to change the name of Toronto but that’s not true though,

They then tried to call Mirabel Airport after him,

Diverted for Dorval just to show that Liberals are dim.

And the people of Quebec all bowed down and then cheered,

Like they were supposed to except that many of them leered,

It’s part of the Trudeau/Chretien/Charter legacy you see,

But Quebec never signed his Charter – they never did agree.

Which is why there’s hope for Canada yet but we missed it,

We should find out what Quebec wants and get it listed,

A referendum/recall law with no politician names,

On buildings, mountains, marinas, airports or bingo games
