Ouraged by CBS & Dan Rather's forged documents attempting to confirn fraudulent allegations of President Bush's being AWOL in the National Guard? Send the following, or something similar, to:
scams@cbsnews.com; evening@cbsnews.com
You asked if we knew about any scams that need investigating. How about the forged documents Dan Rather produced on 60 Minutes? His refusal to admit the wrong, or investigate it, exacerbates what appears to be a blatant attempt to fabricate damaging information against the President. This goes well beyond biased journalism into the realm of criminal libel and defamation of character. You should demand his resignation in order to salvage what little credibility CBS has left. You have shamed the legacy of Walter Cronchite.

Now THAT'S saying something.
a more controlled FReeper than I wrote this earlier:
write a nice letter to the general manager of your local cbs affiliate. explain that you have determined that falsehoods included in cbs network news programs broadcast by the station are not in the public interest.. explain that you believe that this is something that should be taken into consideration when their license comes up for renewal. close the letter by saying that you therefore request that this letter be placed in the station's public file.
these are powerful code words. "not in the public interest" is the grounds for challenging a license. the "public file" is a file of consumer comments which the station by law must maintain. it is provided to and inspected by the f.c.c.
if you want to be really mean cc the letter to:
Federal Communications Commission
Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau
Consumer Complaints
445 12th Street, SW
Washington, D.C. 20554
believe me, enough of these and cbs will hear about it bigtime. angry affils are the last thing a network wants.

Actually, the CBS story has value only it it precipitates a firestorm by the press, demanding answers from Bush. Instead, it has silenced Bush's enemies. Nobody wants to go near this with a ten foot pole--except for Fox and others on the right. CBS is in an embarrassing stonewalling mode--and the other networks know it. As for the DNC--it is praying Rather's producer doesn't nail them as the originators of the fake memos. Meanwhile Bush talks about health care.
You know I have a sneaking suspicion that 1) this latest crap is the work of the DNC - have you noticed how they are skimming around the subject, no matter who is asked about it? 2) these "documents" were produced by some little and young DNC imp, that obviously had no clue about superscript and typewriters in the '70s. 3) We haven't heard a peep from that Heinz-Kerry woman parading as the Kerry wife. I really believe that her money thinks it can silently corrupt the campaign, and maybe even do it with superhero invisible glasses, probably rose colored.
There isn't alot that will change my mind about those people, really!!
