Washington State: Out of Step With America (Vanity)
2 Novermber 2004 | Self

Posted on 11/02/2004 11:21:31 PM PST by Lexinom

Ideas for conservative (fiscal AND SOCIAL) slogans for signs/bumper stickers here in the Evergreen State:

[in response to a piece of literature from the Murray campaign stating Nethercutt was "too extreme" for Washington]: Washington: Too extreme for America.

If George Nethercutt is out of step with Washington, is Washington out of step with America?

Think we're overpopulated? You're part of the population...

Washington, the tri-bi*** state. [pending a Rossi loss]

Have you "choiced" your unborn kid today?

America showed up for freedom this evening, giving George Bush a resounding 3+ million vote popular victory.

This may be hyperbolic, but having lived here since 1985 I am sick and tired of being represented by extremists. Why should these selfish, earth-worshipping, God-hating heathen creeps dominate the most beautiful place on earth?

Now don't get me wring: I learned from Michael Moore not to spread this kind of vitriol around freely - you only energize the other side. This is just venting among friends... These are just things a red-blooded, meat-eating, God-fearing pro-life American living in Washingtion State might like to say... Are there any others like this in WA state? Do you have ideas how to change the culture here? Frustration of your own to vent? This is the place to do it.

Yeah anyone needing cheering up, this is a place to do it.

Seriously, we need to change the culture here, somehow. My wife and I WILL make a difference in Skagit County. This frustration has been building like a volcano for years, esp. the pro-abortion crap.

I got to live in my wife's home state of Missouri for a year. Culturally, night and day. People actually care about each other there...

the problem is the I-5 cooridor(sp) from vancouver to bellingham. large concentration of socialists, er a , liberals especially in the seattle/metro area. thats why a republican has a hard time getting elected and why mc dirtmot and slurry,uh murry keep getting elected.also the reason we have the hugh mess in olympia and the state.

(been living here since 1980 in pierce co, came here from arkansas, hugh difference in how people care for one another, took my wife back last summer, she loved the ozarks!,my old stomping ground on bull sholes lake.

Well this seems the best place to ask this question ......... WTF (excuse my language) is "Workers World", "Socialist Workers Party" and " Socialist Equality" parties that were on the Presidential ballot in Washington State?

One of the Initiatives that passed will make it possible for the State to move even further to the left.

Can you foresee a day when a plurality of primary voters in some districts see the Democratic Party as "Right Wing Extremists" and nominate, say, a Socialist Workers Party and a Green?

Now for me the issues that matter most are those involving the sanctity of life and the family. These are penultimate core beliefs, secondary only to belief in God and afterlife. I've heard, and agree with, the notion that we cannot simply legislate morality from the top-down, but must work on changing minds and hearts. I'm struggling with how to best achieve this within the given framework...

Thanks for the personal anecdotes. Even within the city of St. Louis proper, one cannot but see the striking cultural difference between the Midwest and the Northwest.

Washington and California are "me" states. This is evident in how we treat strangers and even how we drive! Oregon is not quite as bad - my experience with Oregonians has been they are generally friendly and helpful.

I was born in this state and have lived here all my life. I love the physical beauty, but sometimes I can hardly stand it here. The socialist/commies of Seattle are ruining this state.

We have to take it back somehow.

I feel your pain here in Silverdale in Kitsap County.

Did you see the Seattle Times letters to the editor? Oh how I laughed!!!! And laughed and laughed.

I'm from Texas and damnit, I'm proud to be able to vote where my vote can turn this state red! We need more conservative transplants. We need to disperse all over the country and make Oregon and California and the Great Lakes States red too. We can do it. We just need to get out the vote.

Around here, you can turn people red by expressing your respect and admiration for our President, and for the rule of law.

BTW, I'm proud to see my own county (Skagit) went for Bush. From south to north:

Pierce:     Kerry
King:      (you know the answer)
Snohomish:  Kerry
Skagit:     BUSH!!!
Whatcom:    Kerry

That's according to the map on www.newsmax.com. And that's a little something I can be proud of :-)

I'm wondering if we don't need to get a new head of the WA state party. I hear Chris Vance is a nice guy, but I think we need more than what he's been able to offer.
In addition, I'm curious how much support we've had from the Nat'l party (maybe they think we're a hopeless cause).
While I'm thrilled our SD friends got rid of Daschle, we need some help here. Most of the state (except the I-5 corridor, and specifically King county, is on the conservative side - certainly eastern WA is). I live on the Issaquah plateau and Rossi has been my state Senator for a while).

My father and I attended an automobile show today at Qwest Field. We took the "scenic" route through Seattle on the way home, driving north on city streets between I-5 and Lake Washington.

I lost count of the Kerry-Edwards bumperstickers and signs. I saw ONE W04' sticker, and not a single Bush/Cheney yard sign.

Get of out of Seattle and into Lynnwood/Bothell, and you see it's about 50/50. Seattle is extreme, and unfortunately drags the rest of the state with it...

The best we can do is try to live expemplary lives and show that Republicans are not the evil greedy SOB's in the caricatures of the Left.

Washington State is indeed beautiful. It is odd to me that it is so liberal. I spent several months in Kent in the late 60's early 70's and it was totally conservative then. What happened? As a Californian, I was treated like a dog because they felt I would be a crazy liberal. Things have sure changed! :-)
