Weve just launched our new campaign website: www.GeorgeAllen.com! I hope youll take some time to click in. I am particularly excited about the many features on the site that allow friends in Virginia and across the country to participate in our positive campaign regardless of where they live.

Is it just me or has he put on a little weight since his days as governor?
Considering how short i am i'm sure i'd notice that pretty quick.
I would love to see the sight of a 6'4 George Allen towering over a 5'4 hildabeast. That sight on the debates alone would get him who knows how many points.
On another note, rush made a mention of allen, kyl, and shelby in regards to killing this immigration bill, whats the deal with that(i can't find any details).
I pretty much know what I heard on Rush.
Have donated to George Allen's 06 campaign and just tried to sign up for emails from his website and wasn't successful...perhaps there are lots of folks on there but it's so late just don't think that's the problem. Is there a known problem?
thx. ;)

On the first of 11 stops across Virginia on his three-day announcement tour, Allen said he will stake his re-election chiefly on the issues of homeland security and the war in Iraq, making the Bush tax cuts permanent and enacting a "taxpayer bill of rights" and preserving conservative values against "unelected federal judges, activist judges who do not respect representative democracy."
"I don't like limits, I don't like restrictions and I don't like nanny government mandating and dictating to people," he said.
His loudest ovation came for his pledge to tighten immigration laws, noting that his own mother immigrated to the United States.
Unopposed for the nomination, Allen in November meets the winner of an already bitter battle between two Democrats. Harris Miller, a wealthy former Capitol Hill lobbyist for the information technology industry, and James Webb, a military-suspense novelist and former Republican who was secretary of the Navy under President Reagan, will meet in the June 13 Democratic primary.
Neither Democrat has run for elected office before.
Allen has been content to allow the Democrats to savage each other: Miller contending that Webb has discriminated against women and opposes racial affirmative action and diversity programs, while Webb notes Miller's lack of military or national security knowledge in a time of terrorist threats.

Who was your favorite Founder?
Presumed answer: "Thomas Jefferson, of course!
And why?
Presumed answer: "Because neither Reagan nor jla were living in the 18th c., so Mr. J wins by default." ;)
Are my presumed answers close? Maybe a little bit?
Allen seeks second term
By Christina Bellantoni and Seth McLaughlin
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
April 12, 2006
Sen. George Allen began his re-election campaign yesterday with a fly-around tour of Virginia, but the presidential hopeful would not commit to serving out a full, six-year Senate term.
During stops in Manassas, Richmond and Hampton, the first-term Republican said if re-elected he would work to strengthen U.S. borders, support troops, make the federal tax cuts permanent and keep "activist judges" off the bench.
But at each stop he was questioned about seeking the presidency in 2008, just two years into his new term if he is a winner in November.
"I am running for re-election," Mr. Allen told reporters. "The future is now, and my job is as a U.S. senator. People will speculate [but] this is all about winning this year."
He added, "We'll worry about the future when we get to the future."
Mr. Allen calls himself a "common-sense Jeffersonian conservative" and told supporters he will govern with that in mind.
"That means I trust free people and free enterprise, I don't like limits, I don't like restrictions and I don't like nanny government mandating and dictating to people," he said.
Mr. Allen said Congress needs to secure the Mexican border with virtual and actual fences, and add more detention centers and personnel there. Once that is done, lawmakers can deal with the estimated 10 million to 12 million illegal aliens in the United States, he said.
Mr. Allen, 54, has served as a state delegate,
congressman and governor, as well as senator.
His service as the Virginia chief executive started the Republican resurgence in the state, and included reforms such as the abolition of parole, changing the welfare system and creating educational standards that have received national accolades.
