Several prominent Mississippi politicians, including a Democrat who served in President Clinton’s Cabinet, are endorsing Republican Haley Barbour for a second term as governor.

‘‘We’ve got to do what’s best for Mississippi, and in this case, it has to be the person over the party,’’ Mike Espy, who was Clinton’s first secretary of agriculture, said Wednesday.

Espy stood by Barbour and the governor’s wife, Marsha, during a news conference at the state Capitol. About two dozen other politicians, ministers and businesspeople stood on the marble steps behind them.

This is a significant development. Haley Barbour seems to have a bright future.

Mike Espy, huh ? Sounds like a lot of disgruntled rodents in MS are ready to declare him an honorary White man for leaving the plantation. More to the point, I think Espy wants to do the smart thing and be on the winning side. He has more to gain from doing so. It’s too bad we can’t get more of the Black community to see it that way, it would be a lot better for them in the long run not to keep all their political eggs in one basket.

Michael Steele, Ken Blackwell, J.C. Watts, or Herman Cain would be fine.

I have been saying this for months. Add Barbour and Santorum ( just to piss the Dims and RINO’s off ).

Find out more about Peter Pace’s non-national security platform and he maybe the best pick of all.
