MC LEAN, Va., Nov. 14 /Standard Newswire/ -- Today the Fred Thompson campaign announced its Students For Fred National and State Leadership Teams. These student volunteers will be actively leading the Fred Thompson grassroots efforts on college campuses across the nation.

Matthew Farrar will serve as the Florida Chairman as well as a National Co-Chair of Students for Fred Thompson. A senior political science major at Florida State University, Farrar has previously served on the 2006 Charlie Crist Gubernatorial campaigns and has worked on numerous state races throughout Florida.

"Sen. Fred Thompson has made it clear that he is the best candidate to lead our country into a strong and secure future," said Matthew Farrar. "He has shown incredible leadership capabilities, and has a solid vision of where this country needs to go. With a focus on grassroots campaigning, I look forward to spreading his message across the country to my fellow students. I am honored and excited to serve as a National Co-Chairman and the Florida Chair, and I am ready to get to work in engaging students in the issues that are crucial to our country's future"

Marianne Brennan is a senior political science major at the College of Charleston, and she will serve as a National Co-Chair. A native of Arlington, Virginia, she has been the Opinions Editor of the College of Charleston's student newspaper, the George Stre et Observer since her junior year.

"I am honored to serve as a National Co-Chair for Students for Fred Thompson," said Marianne Brennan. "Senator Thompson is the true consistent conservative in this race with the principles and values we need leading our nation as we face increasing challenges down the road. I look forward to spreading his message on my campus as well as on campuses across the country."

"We are very pleased to have these students volunteering their time to lead our youth effort on campuses throughout the country," said Randy Enwright, National Political Director. This can’t be right. I have it on good authority that FRed can’t attract younger voters.

Excellent. Fred is broadening his organization to college campuses. What a great week this has been. And to think there were rumors going around a few days ago that Fred’s campaign was on its last legs and he was getting ready to drop out of the race. Wishful thinking on the part of his opponents abounds.

SPREAD FRED'S GIVING DAY!

SPREAD FRED'S GIVING DAY!

Fred's Giving Day is a pure grassroots campaign, where Fred Heads make a pledge now that they will donate $100 or more to Fred's campaign on the coming November 21st. On "Fred's Giving Day" all people who pledge will make good on their pledge by making their donations to Fred via Fred 08 or this site. Hopefully by the time the 21st is history, Fred's campaign will be flush with lots of cash.

I’m really disappointed that they don’t welcome donations under $100.

I have four children, Christmas is coming, and we just found out we underpaid our taxes. I have been giving a series of smaller donations. I would LOVE to donate a smaller amount, but I am shut out.

But then it won’t be counted in the total for this event, correct?

I don't know: But a dollar for Fred is a dollar for Fred and will be counted in the 4th quarter totals that the drive-by media uses to judge electability and viability.

As 2ndDiv said, this FredsGivingDay thing DOES NOT AFFECT giving to Fred08.com. Other than they are trying to get a BUMP ON NOV 21. You can still give smaller amounts NOW and on Nov 21st.

I’m not in charge of the FredsGivingDay thing, I’m just saying....

It’s always good to see young people involved in the process of elections...even better when they are working for FDT!
