Skip to comments.Traitor Kevin Madden: Responsible for the anonymous attacks aired on FoxNews tonight
Posted on 11/05/2008 7:44:00 PM PST by Charlie Fairbanks
One week prior to the general election, former Romney spokesman Kevin Madden took to the airwaves (on CNN) and defamed Sarah Palin, setting off a media storm over an alleged fight between Team McCain and Team Palin. They were the very early opening salvos in the battle for the party. Fox News expanded on off-the-record anti-Palin comments tonight. Was traitor Kevin Madden for those comments?
Another difference: Mr. Madden is a traitor to the Republican Party. He violated Reagans Eleventh Commandment by attacking Sarah Palin one week prior to the general election.
According to several reputable blogs (redstate.com, townhall.com, American Spectator and the Atlantic) have reported that on or about October 28, 2008, Mr. Madden - while working for the McCain campaign - stated the following during an appearance on CNN: Yes. And thats an indication just how unseasoned Sarah Palin is as a national candidate. That comment and ones off the record set off a firestorm about Republican infighting.
Fox News reported tonight that there had been several off the record comments in which the source indicated that Governor Palin didnt know (1) the signatories to NAFTA; and (2) that Africa is a continent, not a country. MFP does not know if Mr. Madden is responsible for the comments. There were several other very personal comments that do not deserve to repeated. Whoever was responsible for these accusations should come forward and defend them because they are absolutely ludicrous. Are we to believe that Sarah Palin, a college educated governor, the daughter of two educators and mother of five, does not know the difference between a continent and a country. Are we to believe that Sarah Palin, a governor of a state with a very long border with Canada, does not know that Canada, Mexico and the US are the three NAFTA signatories?
MFP does not believe that Governor Mitt Romney is responsible for these cowardly attacks. Mitt is an honorable man who worked hard for the McCain-Palin ticket. MFP does not, however, believe that Kevin Madden is a lone gunman. He is part of a crew who will attempt to blame Sarah Palin for yesterdays defeat. Yes, this is the opening salvo in the next phase in the battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party and MFP will stand against it.
Sarah Palin inspired the Republican base and was personally responsible for the surge of the McCain-Palin campaign after the convention. She reached millions because she is the real Republican deal. Palin is for less government, lower taxes. She is pro-family and pro-Second Amendment. If anyone wants to debate policy and GOP direction, then MFP is ready.
Romney is old news. Hopefully he’ll just fade away and take this scumbag Madden with him.
I still want to know what girly man was supposedly offended by seeing her in a bathrobe. I can’t get passed that one.
The rats leave the sinking ship; but the joke’s on them: this ship won’t sink but the rats will be left to drown.
As soon as I heard Cameron speak of this Madden immediately came to mind.
We cannot stand for this behaivor in our party... We have to be loyal to the party. This kind of back stabbing is one of the reasons we as a party have failed. Give it up to the democrats, they grab on to those talking points and spew them out relentlessly when everybody and their mother, knows it’s a bold face lie. 2010 We take back Congress!
I thought I noted negative spin out of the woman who worked with Hume’s panel last night, can’t think of her name and not last night....her husband worked for Mitt. As a Mitt supporter I don’t want to think Mitt was responsible,I do think his supporters would want to try to discredit her for the future. Others also. I never heard of Huck’s people joining the campaign, seems some of Rudy’s folks did.
I got the emails from mymanmitt.com until early September when THEY started cutting down Sarah.
I would believe Sarah before I would believe any of their crap.
Went to the link. Madden sounds like Republican elitist.
Who / what is MFP?
Defend the lady!
Then he turned to his son and said, "Shoot one mosquito with a shotgun and the others take notice."
“Traitor Kevin Madden: Responsible for the anonymous attacks aired on FoxNews tonight”
This is the type of flesh eating bacteria that must be purged from our party.
They are terrified of a Palin.
She doesn’t want to pay homage to their bulls&%t.
I will be supporting Palin and other “outsiders”. The old guard brought us the debacle last night.
Thanks for posting.
When was the last time the party was loyal to you? 1988?
You’re talking about Nina Easton - she has been a poison pill against Sarah from day one. Remember when Palin was first announced? The negative rumors were said to have come from Romney’s camp. I’ll see if I can find a link.
Nothing would suprise me, I can’t stand the woman.
Someone please tell me how to get hold of Madden.
More important than sounding off to weasel Madden is how do we let every R. organization and every future candidate know that any back-stabbing weasels who attack Governor Palin like this are PERSONA NON GRATA...... find out IF this Madden character is involved in this (but just his quoted comment on CNN about how “unseasoned” his own VP candidate is, made DURING the campaign is bad enough)...... anyone involved in back-stabbing Governor Palin must be blocked from all future employment for any Republicans who want our support.
The sad part is Sarah Palin got more support from Lynn Forester de Rothschild than she got from many prominent party members.
It is a sad commentary, isn’t it? I have a news flash...they do not hold the patent on intellect. They are no better than a an Alaskan yahoo or a Southern redneck (me). I hope we all take notice of what many of them think of us.
I found this little nugget over at RedState. Guess who else was on the Romney bandwagon??? None other than Sarah-basher Kathleen Parker.. It’s all starting to make sense now...
In fact, I heard that one of the biggest pushers of anti-Palin stories, including encouraging reporters to pursue the “Trooper-gate” story was Romney spokesman Kevin Madden.
I did not blog on it at the time because I perceived it to be people trying to finish off Romney. It likewise seemed clear to me that if this was going on, it was people loyal to Romney who were still hoping for his come back and not Romney himself.
These days it is hard to miss Kathleen Parker’s savage attacks on Sarah Palin. She, along with several others listed here attacking Sarah Palin were also some of the first pundits in bed with the Romney campaign in 2007/8.
Yes, old age moment, that is her. She was quite catty a couple of times that I caught. I have stopped watching most all of FNC now.
I have turned off Fox News ever since Shepherd Smith went ballistic with Joe the Plumber. Another koolaid drinker joins the obamamedia.
What did Shep Smith do to Joe the Plumber?
If no one from the McCain campaign steps up to own these smears of Gov Palin, then I would find a full list of campaign staffers, and make sure I never help or vote for a candidate that hires one of these aides. I believe RedState is starting a “leper” list if individuals can be identified. If these anonymous “aides” think they can hide in the chummy group, then the group needs to be exposed. This is so maddening!
And I wonder how the guy who was offended by the guv in a bathrobe voted on Prop 8...
MFP=Men for Palin. We are a group of Republicans who formed a coalition to support her bid for Veep and to support a blog (www.menforpalin.com). We plan to continue into the “Obama Era”, and would like to have partners and associates in all 50 states, the territories and the District of Columbia. Join today!
Count me in.
The future of the GOP needs to be younger i.e. Palin, and the Gov. of LA. Bobby Jindal. The party needs to run back to conservatism. I hope they don’t think the future is being moderate to liberal, or we’ll continue to lose.
Palin and Jindal are the future. Romney got blocked by Huckabee and McCain teaming up against him. I don’t think Romney can come back in four years while being out of elected office the entire time.
I love the irony of it. Now we have rumors being spread about who spread rumors.
First you grab him by the onions, then you pull him in close......
Nicole's Knifework (David Frum Identifies the anti-Palin Leaker)
hey just posting links - got a problem with it go to the source. did you post this to everyone that mentioned romney’s ex campaign workers?
Not just Kathleen Parker, but Peggy Noon, David Frum, Charles Krauthammer (have you read his latest anti-Palin article)... and more.
Kathleen Parker is a journalist and never worked for Romney. Romney doesn't need to go play thought police to every pundit.
Michell Malkin was on Fox this morning naming McCain aides. The "Romney rumors" turned out Nicolle Wallace a former Bush aide who works for CBS and others not Romney. But the MSM is playing it for all its worth. They can kill two birds with one stone with the lies about Romney. It serves to keep the Palin isn;t qualified lie in hte news and it serves to keep the Romney stabbed her in the back lie in the news. What is unfortunate is how many FReepers are feeding in to the Orwellian liberal lies.
We need both Palin and Romney (and many others) for the future of conservatism and the GOP. The reddest of the red states voted for Romney in the primaries and Palin in Nov. (Alsaka, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, Utah, etc.) The MSM is trying to take them both out now.
I just tell libs that's impossible because the real Dick Cheney died 7 years ago and what they're looking at is really a 1998 model Haliburton clone.
Romney needs to be branded with this.
Thanks for posting.
When it was apparent that Romney would lose the nomination to McCain, he bows out gracefully and then throws his support 100% behind the Republican nominee. Campaigns across the nation and on TV for McCain.
McCain, who's built his entire “Maverick” image by repeatedly abandoning conservative positions and pushing democrat legislation. McCain has repeatedly bad mouthed Republicans over anything and everything. McCain NEVER, NOT ONCE, will say anything bad about a democrat, not matter how despicable the behavior of the democrat.
Yea, it must have been a Romney loyalist, not a McCainiac.
