If Kirsten Gillibrand becomes our new senator, there's already a growing list of Republicans ready to run for what would then be her vacant Congress seat.

Sandy Treadwell and Betty Little have publicly declared that they plan to run in a special election if there's an opening. Treadwell lost to Gillibrand in the last election.

If Kirsten Gillibrand becomes our new senator, there's already a growing list of Republicans ready to run for what would then be her vacant seat in Congress.

He issued a statement saying, "I have just come off a campaign on the district, so I have name recognition, and 150,000 people who already voted for me. I would also be able to finance the campaign personally."

Betty Little has also told Warren County Chairman Mike Grasso that she is seeking the Republican backing for the seat as well.

Other possible contenders could be John Faso and current Assemblyman James Tedisco, but they have not released any official statements.

Treadwell ran in 2008, lined up support, than suddenly dropped out, leaving his party holding the bag. We don’t need his kind.

Betty Little is a popular local state Senator, but I don’t know anything else about her.

Treadwell dropped out? Is that true? I wasn’t aware of that. I just thought he got his head handed to him.

AFIAK the asshat who lost the seat in 2006 is the one who gave up and gave the seat to Gillibrand in the first place...useless loser that he was/is. Last I heard he got bagged driving drunk on the Northway with a topless dancer on his lap.

“I just thought he got his head handed to him.”

I stand corrected and embarrassed. It was another candidate who dropped out. Treadwell ran in 2008 against Gillibrand and spent over $5 million, but she defeated him with 62% of the vote. Not an impressive showing under any circumstances.

np...no need to be embarrassed. Hell, with his showing, who would have thought he actually was trying!??! lol

Honestly, I thought he’d do better than he did. It was a really bad return for him considering the advertising he did.

I think part of it was that Gillibrand was very smart about how she pandered to her constituents and pretended to be just conservative enough for them. He might be able to pull it out in a special election.

Xcamel is more plugged in than I am and can probably give better info. I’m JAFO.

Yay! I wanted G(J)illibrand! Way to go Patterson.

Treadwell is a friend of Wild Bill Weld and was a booster of bus bid for NY Governor. So no we really don’t need his sort.

Little is a state senator? I know nothing about her.

If Faso lives in this seat he’d be my first choice.

Needless to say this is a must win.

Treadwell sued last year to get rid of his primary opponents. He should just bleep off already.

John Faso would be the ideal candidate on both conservatism and electability grounds. If we can’t win in that district in an open-seat special election, we might as well stop running candidates in NY.

You might want to give Betty Little a chance...

She has been endorsed by the NY Right to Life Committee, gotten 0's from NARAL, and an A from the NRA.
