Wadhams said two Republicans have expressed interest in running for governor in 2010 but have not yet announced - former U.S. Congressman Scott McInnis and current State Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry.
Republicans eyeing the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Democrat Michael Bennet who was appointed to fill Ken Salazars term through 2010 are former legislator Bob Beauprez, Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck, Ryan Frazier of Aurora and conservative talk show host Dan Caplis, Wadhams said.
It will take a few months to figure out who is going to get in this thing, Wadhams said. They are all great candidates.

The appointment of Michael Bennet remains a mystery to me. Most in both parties are at a loss of what to think about him, and Bennet may have primary opposition next year.
Problem is that we don’t have any particularly stellar candidates to challenge him. And if I hear that RINO Owens’s name mentioned, I’m going to choke somebody.
Potential Carbon-Monoxide candidate? Honestly, haven’t people had enough of this insane “carbon footprint” mania?
I’ve been wondering about this race. Is Colorado too granola-hippie now for a conservative pick-up?
I am not a Colorodan, but I have ties to the state: I know a few names you could try drafting: Tancredo, Ted Harvey, Doug Lamborn, Musgrave, Kent Lambert?? There are probably others just as promising!
“Is Colorado too granola-hippie now for a conservative pick-up?”
A Colorado Freeper would be more qualified to answer that than I would. My personal opinion is, not, at least not yet.
Dan Caplis ain’t gonna cut either.
I can address three of those. Tancredo screwed himself with the endorsement of Slick Willard and stabbing Duncan Hunter in the back, I wouldn’t support him for dogcatcher now. Lamborn is possible, but he’s had problems of being crippled in those ugly internecine battles he had to fight to hold his seat the last two times. Musgrave couldn’t win reelection in her own House seat, a needless loss, and I can’t see her winning statewide as a result. Can’t speak to the other names.
Anybody here that has thought of running for office: 2010 is a year to do it as a Republican. You get these years sometimes, 1980, 1994 . . . and probably 2010. Get out there and run for something.
Scott McInnis could win if he ran, but likely he will not run.
Josh Penry used to work for McInnis; he would be good but does not have that strong of a base statewide yet.
Many more illegals and liberals from other states who tilt the balance from just a few years ago.
McInnis is a pro-abort. Seems like Penry is moving quickly away
from the right.
LOL.
I think the problem with Tancredo is that he has a negative image that would impede the chance of victory.
With Bennett, there must have been some kind of quid pro quo, why else appoint such a cipher.
Hopefully he will be primaried and the rat winner bloodied. But all his potential primary foes praised his appointment.
Any other prominent state legislators that might have a shot?
I don’t know much about any Colorado state legislators.
But, it will give us the best chance to get that seat back.
