Well here we go again. There are very few actual leaders in Illinois Republican politics to begin with. But whenever we do see one theres some school yard bully ready to personally attack that person.
A couple of weeks ago a sewer blogging little punk named Tom Swiss made a complete fool of himself for about the 150th time by trying to smear Jack Roeser. [By the way, just earlier today Jack was awarded the de Fleury Medal by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in honor of his significant contributions to Army Engineering. So be sure to congratulate our Publisher/Renaissance Man the next time you see Jack.]
And then there was State Party Chairman Andy McKenna who last month tried to insultingly brand all pro-SB600 Republicans as insurgents.
Meanwhile, another bully in the form of Republican National Committeeman Pat Brady was sent out to personally attack State Senator Chris Lauzen.
Its the same old thing. Bullies are sent out to try and decapitate and discredit the reform leaders. Its about the only thing our decrepit Illinois GOP excels at anymore. Its been that way for years.
Pat Bradys attack on Chris Lauzen came in the form of an interview Brady did recently with Rick Pearson of the Chicago Tribune. Lee Hoffer, a fine Republican and a retired Air Force Colonel, has already done an excellent job setting the record straight. But I wanted to add some additional observations.
In that Tribune article from April 26th, Brady actually has the nerve to suggest that Lauzen should take a deep look at whether he wants to remain in the GOP. Why? Because Lauzen wants to give every Republican a voice again in their own Illinois Republican Party via SB600?

Illinois Ping please!
I talked to Labarber one day this week, Seems as though he has confirmed Peter Roskam may be NOT supporting SB600,

Pat Brady DOOMS the future of any legitimate Republican Party in Illinois. I guess his FAVORITE song is By Olivia Newton John...."Let's Get Physical"This Pat Brady is a real piece of work. Reading about his *antics* in the article, he seems to need, like all bullies do -- what we used to call in my old Chicago neighborhood -- "an attitude adjustment" :-).
As to your Post #2.....
I talked to Labarber one day this week, Seems as though he has confirmed Peter Roskam may be NOT supporting SB600...I have a really dumb question...
Why would Peter Roskam, a US Congressman, be involved in a state senate bill (SB600)? I don't understand the connection on what his supporting, or not, of the Bill means? As a US Congressman isn't he now somewhat divorced from the inside working of the IL GOP Central Committee?I admit, I'm totally ignorant of this IL GOP 'inside baseeball' stuff and my questions on this are prolly really dumb.
an aside: I still don't get why IL Conservatives are for SB600 when all the major cosponsors are Democrats. When IL Democrats all of a sudden want to 'help' IL republicans I automatically think something is up. YES the current system stinks and protects the Combine cronies, but with Dems leading the way to correct this, it just seems really really odd. Especially when Conservative Republicans have withdrew as cosponsors.
(again, theses are prolly stupid concerns on my part and I'm showing my ignorance of the matter)
WHY? If you are influential and Verbally throwing your support or NOT ....................I believe makes an impact!
WHY? If you are influential and Verbally throwing your support or NOT ....................I believe makes an impact!Okay. I just thought a US Congressman wouldn't be involved with state party 'stuff'.
*ping*
Eh, that seems like a valid point. But I fail to see how the bill isn't a good thing.
The claim that every co-sponsor of the bill is a RAT is not true. Chris Lauzen is one of the main forces behind this bill, and there are other prominent Republicans in his camp. Unfortunately not many in the GOP leadership want to follow his lead, probably because they're afraid of repercussions from the party bosses.
Yes, many RATs sponsor this bill, but so what? It has to do with structural government procedures, not idealogical policy battles. The RATs support it because their party structure is set up that way, it's the IL GOP that deviated from the norm. Being wary of this because the RATs like it would be like saying recall laws are a bad idea because RATs were the ones that put in the books.
Ping to #10 it addresses your concerns.
