I am starting some ping lists for the 2010 Texas Governor's Race. The ping lists will expire when the election is over. Freepmail me to get on/off the lists.

This ping list will cover all articles related to the governor's race regardless of candidate.

This list will cover articles related to Governor Rick Perry, positive or negative.
keyword: kbh
This list will cover articles related to Senator Hutchison, positive or negative.

Maybe if you added Debra Medina to the list of Perry and Hutchinson for the primary people would be able to see an alternative to the “DC Mentality” that’s taking over TX politics.

The txgov2010 ping list will cover all articles related to the 2010 Texas Governor’s race regardless of the candidate. So that should cover Debra Medina.
The rickperry and kbh ping lists are specific to those candidates only. So if someone wants to be pinged only to rickperry articles and not kbh articles, then he/she would join the rickperry list.

Are you talking about Kay Bailey Hutchison? You spelled it Hutchinson........
As far as I know she has no natural children by birth. She was married to her first husband John Parks in 1967 and divorced in 1969. Then in 1978 she married Ray Hutchison. They had no children together but adopted two back in 2001. Ray had two children by his previous marriage.
It is Kay’s adopted son. Shortly after she adopted him.

I am seriously looking at Medina.
I would really like Jerry Patterson!
I might start a write in campaign with Freepers and Tea Party enthusists.
I will put it out there and state that right now I am favoring Perry. I heard about Medina at the July 4th San Antonio Tea Party. I am interested in learning more about her. Problem I see with folks like this is the funding, not enough to win, but enough to siphon off votes.... She could easily split enough votes off that we won't get the best candidate who can win. (aka Ross Perot).
I talked to a lady at the San Antonio Apr 15 Tea Party, she worked directly for Rick Perry when he was the Ag Commissioner way back when. Apparently then he was a strong conservative. At times it has seemed like he has lost his way, but I am hoping he is back on track. But that troubles me as well, would a True Conservative lose their way???
I have read in San Antonio Express News (Dem/Lib writer) that they favor Kay Bailey. That is a strike against her in my book. I have also read where she called herself an “Appropriator” in that she works hard to bring Federal Dollars back to Texas. That is strike two since buying votes is what has damaged our political system. She also favored SCHIP which isn't a far stretch from Universal Health Care, that is strike 3 for me.
I believe the Republican Primary is an Open Primary meaning the Dems can vote in it as well. If that is so, doesn't that mean we should determine who is the most viable, most conservative candidate and unite behind them?
I'd like to see some sort of score card for all three, problem with Medina is she doesn't have much of a record.
Perry worries me on the Toll Road and Trans Texas Corridor, but seems to have backed off those. I like his comments on Secession. I think it was for effect rather than for real, more of a statement on the States Rights movement.
I know very little about Medina. I cannot support KBH - she is too much a RINO - wanting to ‘grow the party’, etc. I did not like Gov Goodhair and his Trans-Texas Corridor, but right now he seems the best choice.
There are several marks against KBH in my opinion:
- She wants to widen the appeal of the Republican Party in Texas, which means moving toward the center. (Big Tent, No Principles.)
- She’s pro-choice.
- She supports embryonic stem cell research.
- She single-handedly destroyed the border fence and its associated resources (staffing, security, roads, etc.) with S.Amdt. 2466 to H.R. 2368 (the DHS appropriations bill)
- She’s been in Washington D.C. for 16 years. She’s part of the problem, not the solution.
- And she voted for the bailout.
The first election on who will be the President of the Federal Republic of Texas?
Nah. KBH doesn’t have it in her to part with Washington. She’d order the Guard to fire on us.

Kay has never been a dyed in the wool, staunch conservative. What is her position on the most important things in Texas: 2nd amendment rights, abortion, the border,and 10th amendment soveirgnty. Perry frightened me with his Gardcil thing and I felt very foolish voting for him last time and seeing his ads that he will be tough on the border. Less than a month after he was elected he backed off that pledge.
Medina is not ready for prime time in my opinion.
That is why I would like to start a write in campaign for Jerry Patterson here at Free Republic and at Tea Parties.
Patterson has won statewide office several times. He is a Veteran, and sees many, Many things the way I Do.
I almost forgot about him promoting the Gardasil shots for teenage girls. That was a bit odd for a Conservative wasn't it... He was also for the Trans Texas Corridor and I am not sure if he has entirely backed off Toll Roads.
Looks like we may not have a real clear cut choice here. I will have to look into Jerry Patterson some. I have heard the name, nothing really pro or con I can readily put my finger on.
She won’t if I have anything to do with it. I just cannot abide her values.
Why don’t you post an article about Patterson? I’ll ping the list to it. Or if you find one you want me to post, send it to me.
Tex, can we use this thread to post questions so that we can compile any answers we get from these candidates and even prospective ones like Patterson?
Also, I would like to have more information on Patterson if someone here can provide.
