Commentary: Is there a doctor in the house for Nevada GOP?
The Nevada Appeal ^ | July 17, 2009 | Chuck Muth

The most impressive and most promising Republican who spoke Monday night was John Guedry. He all but announced he was running against Rep. Dina Titus (D) and, even though a newcomer on the campaign stage, was savvy enough to downplay the biggest knock against him in his brief remarks; noting that while he's a banker, he's a community banker, not a Wall Street banker.

GOP gubernatorial candidates Joe Heck and Mike Montandon also spoke. Montandon seems to have a slight edge right now among the party faithful, but Heck, a doctor by trade, rolled out a new campaign slogan: “I'm the cure for what ails Nevada.”

You know, that just might sell. Lord knows the GOP appears to be suffering from a major case of swine flu these days — and it's gonna take more than two aspirins and some chicken soup to make it all better.

I remain hopeful that Nevada will come around.

Nevada is seriously in need of some creditable leadership. The old Axiom “ You cannot beat somebody with nobody”still is true. It would take a miracle to unseat Harry, bad as he is.He is just a lackey and water boy for Obama, but we still cannot find anyone with any credentials to run against him.

I don’t know about Montandon. All I can uncover is that Reid backed his opponent, one Andreas Ramirez, in the 2005 Mayoral race. As to the other one, Heck, he refused to sign a no new taxes pledge.

Gibbons has got to lose the primary or the GOP loses the Governorship. I hope that either Heck or Montandon are acceptable and can ebat him.

I don’t know much about Montandon. But the fact that he’s challenging a RINO Governor in the primary is a good sign.

John Guedry has never held political office, but he’s making a good impression on the campaign circuit. I’m trying to be hopeful.
