Thank you so much for posting the Medina website, Tex. I’ve been focused on other political and family matters. I did find a blog this morning here:
http://gopwomen.blogspot.com/2009/05/debra-medina-dark-horse-in-texas.html
with additional speeches and personal info on her. I plan to get on her blog or facebook so I can keep up with her actions. So far I like everything I read about her. She stresses the importance of staying involved in local politics.
omegabea
Watched her brief speech.
Mark my words by fall of 10' any old face will be out on their collective @$$es people are so pissed.
Enter Mrs. Medina, another Sarah Palin. An average Jane that has had enough.
Maybe "Celente" and his concept of the 2nd American Revoltion is not that far fetched after all....
Not much out there as far as biographical material as to who, where, what she is.
....
Born in Beeville and raised on a South Texas farm, Debra Medina is a wife and mother, a registered nurse, a businesswoman, a rancher and a fighter.
She ought to make a plumber with a 1/2 dozen employees that had to make the payroll the Comp-Controller....
Debra Medina gave a speech the other day that would rouse a marble statue to cheers. She wants to get rid of all property taxes (!) and end federal interference in Texan affairs. She also says that under a Medina administration, the State of Texas will "nullify" (ignore) Obamacare, Cap and Trade, and any new federal gun laws that the current federal government may pass, no matter what threats they may make against us for doing so. She also wants to abolish the Federal Reserve System(!!) Her speech ended with the words "We will have our land, and our guns, and Texas will be free".
I was, frankly, dumbfounded. I haven't heard this kind of talk from a candidate in, well, ever. You will never hear Governor Hairdo say the things this woman says, that's for sure.
While I despise voting, representation, and all the other trappings of popular government, it's the system we have, and I have no choice but to accept it. I will therefore support the candidacy of Debra Medina for the Republican nomination for the office of the Governor of Texas, and I ask all of you Texan Freepers reading this to please consider doing so as well.
Ping to #26
(This is a one-time ping. I didn't add you to the list.)
My endorsement is, of course, conditional. Should Ms. Medina modify her positions on the issues or otherwise prove unsuitable for the position of Governor, I will reconsider my endorsement of her candidacy.
Of course, absolutely. So noted. :) And likewise here.
Especially as a Texan.
We make stuff happen.”
Johnny, Thank you for reminding me of this. I am going to read up on Debra. If she is the Real Deal, I will vote for her, and I will donate time and money to her campaign.
My first reaction when I heard of her was a little fatalistic, I just did not think she could get the exposure or funding to get over the hump regardless of if she was the best candidate. I was ready to lean towards Perry, just because I thought he was less of a Rino than KBH.
But I am reaching the point that I will vote strictly on principle. Win or lose, we have to send them a message. We have to shake up the status quo, weed out career politicians, especially the ones that constantly tell us they are Conservative but show us something else.
All I can say is wow...
If this women is for real, we need a whole bunch of them. My guiess Texas would give it to her in a landside to send a message.
Godspeed to her.
What ever happened to that young women a real Firecraker that gave a speech at one of the 1st Texas Tea Parties? She was in her mid 20's a single mom who pulled herself up by her bootstraps, and it was all overf You-Tube.
If she ran for Congress, I'd send her $20 in a heartbeat....
I like Jerry Patterson, land commissioner. He elected not to run against heavyweights like Kay and Rick because of their $10million warchests. That quite behind in fundraising don’t you know...I’m thinking of writing him in.
Check out what wikipedia has to say about him!
I just don't know what it would take to get him to run, though. He's the most unpolitician politician I have ever known---and IMHO, that's what we need a lot more of!
In the meantime, at this point in time, I'm supporting Ms Medina.
He doesnt have the $ to run with the Big Dogs. I’m starting a write in campaign here on Free Republic. Most are not happy with their choices for Gov in the primary. I believe that we can write in anybody we want. I will research the write in issue and get back to y’all.
Too bad he’s not running. He could at least be competitive.
He is not running. Thats the point, we need to write him in.
I actually like KBH, but that was years ago.
Gov. Goodhair has run the course with me. He has done somethings well, however he has done more not so well. He has for me run his course in the Governors Mansion.
KBH after this last few years needs to be out of the Senate. Gov. Goodhair needs to step aside for the good of the State and the Party. Go back to the ranch, he will not be good for national office either.
I’ll give a look at Debra Medina and try to follow her. Never heard of her before. She needs to get a statewide stage for all to see and hear her.
What ever happened to conservative politicians in Texas. They seem to wear it like a robe, only when they think it will get them something with the citizens.
