Oh, Im sure some of you folks are laughing out loud at the idea that ex-vice president Dick Cheney considered by some to be an ideal candidate for president in 2012. But thats only because you arent a rabid right-winger who thinks the only thing wrong with the Bush administration is that they didnt torture enough Muslims. Believe me, they are out there:
Craig Shirley, a longtime Republican strategist who often has his finger on the pulse of the partys base, concurred while also noting that Cheney can galvanize conservatives in ways few other current figures can.
In 2009, there are few absurdities left in American politics, he told the Huffington Post, via email. Anything is possible and the mere fact that Cheneys name is being floated accomplishes several things including striking fear in the heart of President Obama, especially in light of the crumbing American position in Afghanistan, which could become Obamas Vietnam.
It also gives aid and comfort to a still battered Republican Party as he is the only GOP leader besides [Newt] Gingrich uncowed by the dominate liberal elites manning the batteries in the nations capital, Shirley wrote. They are about the only two politicians on the right who are willing to make a fight of it.
Laugh all you want Democrats. Anything can happen in politics. There were those who laughed at Ronald Reagan. And remember, the smart money said that the 2008 race would be between Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani.
And the more scorn and abuse thats heaped upon Cheney, the more the conservatives will fight for him.
So heres a follow-up question: If not Cheney, or Sean Hannity or even Sarah Palin, who would you like to see make a run for the presidency for the GOP? Give names and reasons.
How about one of his daughters?
How about Cheney/Cheney (Dick & Lynn)
right I believe the daughters are great!
Oh boy, any last semblance of journalistic “integrity” will be thrown out the window because the MSM hates Cheney more than Dubya.
You know what’s interesting? No one is talking about the Dakota Governors (Mike Rounds of SD and John Hoeven of ND). Both are solid Republicans, have served two or more terms, and their states have low unemployment and none of the budget mess of other states. Hoeven, especially, sounds very impressive. He’s been Governor since 2000 and he’s only 52. Pro-life, pro-business, pro-gun, etc. Huge dark horse candidate, if he runs it’d be very hard to choose between him and Palin.

Would he look good standing next to Sarah or Michele?
They had the chance to let Cheney go quietly into retirement, to live out his twilight years fly fishing and shotgunning with his pals.
But no, they picked this fight. So they need to get ready for the fight they picked.
LIZ Cheney should be considered for Vice President. She’s speaking out and got the Left angry at her. She now Qualifies.
Palin's my #1 pick and there's rumors that Hoeven would target Dorgan in the Senate.
The NRSC is heavily pushing Hoeven to run for Senate. Hoeven said he will make his decision in Sept or Oct. So we’ll know Hoeven’s intentions real soon.
If Governor Palin runs either as a Republican or an Independent I will vote for her. But one thing is for sure, I am changing my party affiliation this year.
Yes, we are.
