Patricia Lightner, a conservative Republican and former state representative, is campaigning for a position in the Third Congressional District, and has formally launched a campaign web site.

The seat is held by Rep. Dennis Moore, a Democrat, who has been under public scrutiny lately for what critics say is his lack of accountability and availability to his constituents.

Lightner said she was motivated to enter the race out of a desire to promote liberty in individualism, freedom of economic choice and the right to life. Lightner said these rights have been compromised by the Democratic majority in Washington, including Moore.

Patricia Lightner is fighting quite hard here...been out at parades, festivals, tea parties. She's a former State Rep and is the only major conservative in the race against Rep. Dennis Moore, a "blue dog" who has been voting with Pelosi. Her website is http://www.patricialightner.com

I’d like to see Dennis defeated but I’m not sure she has the ability to be the one to defeat the anti-business Dennis Moore.

I’m not sure Steve Rose can do it either as he has been all over the board for years and has burned too many folks in JOCO over the years with his editorials. He is a good Man but not thw right one for the job.

If the Republicans nationalize this election with a new contract (And the RATS efforts to steal the election are stopped) then I think Republicans could pick up seats they never thought they could get.

Now that Steve Rose has entered the race it should be interesting to see if anybody else gets in. I’m not a Steve Rose fan as he has burned too many people in Kansas with his editorial style. Rose has been accused many times as a RINO. I Know that Kris Kobach would not endorse him.

There is word that a Doctor in Mission Hills is considering giving up his practice and running for the seat. I hear he is a great person and has the deep pockets its takes to run a good compaign against Dennis Moore.

Steve Rose is definitely running. Other Republicans eyeing the race include state Representative Kevin Yoder and state Senator Jeff Colyer.

Rose is a liberal Democrat-endorser. Why he is running in the GOP makes as much sense as Dede Scuzzyliberal in NY.

Fortunately, we have other choices.

The bad news is that the people of suburban Overland County don’t want a conservative Congressman. I don’t know why that is.

You mean Johnson County. I think they should stop with these ridiculous claims of being “Moderate” (sic) liberal RINOs and make their affiliation with the Democrats official, that way we know what we’re really up against. JoCo might as well be appendaged to KC,MO and they can have the moonbat Emanuel Cleaver as their Rep.

I wonder what impact the death of Dr. Tiller will have on the election next year. KS Dems could attempt to tie all Republicans to pro-life extremists.

I believe Sam Brownback carried the KS-03 in his Senate runs. Ditto for Dubya. So a friendly conservative can win there. Its seems the people of JoCo don’t like people who bang their Bibles like Phil Kline.

Vince Snowbarger was an excellent Congressman from that district, but the RINO left did their damndest to replace him with a liberal rodent, and they got their wish. And with all the complaints about Kline, he turned out to be right. They ran him out of office statewide for a RINO liberal turned rodent who turned out to be a creep. The whole thing was over protecting Killer Tiller.

When don’t they try that tack ? Killer Tiller was running the KS Democrat party. The public outrage over his 205th trimester abortion was about 5 minutes in duration when they learned just how evil this guy was.

I recall that back in 2004 Lightner ran in the primary against a RINO and a hardline conservative and finished third, but some FReepers pointed out that as a pro-lifer that wasn’t a hardline conservative on other issues she would have the best shot at both energizing conservatives and holding the district’s GOP coalition together. I hope that she gets the chance to take Moore on in the general next year, when he could be very vulnerable.

It’s way past time that we got this GOP seat back. Let’s get it done.

The creationism fights in Kansas have been a big wedge issue for the rats and RINOs in the past.

I don’t know if that’s been a factor in the US house elections in KS-03.
