Conservative Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, who is emerging as a top contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, is gaining some attention this week for his comments in defense of President Obama.
As first reported on the Huffington Post, Huckabee said some of the recent criticisms of Obama have been unfair and even "shameful."
Huckabee made the comments to the Hudson Union Society.
"When he [Barack Obama] was at Dover the other day, and went there to pay respect for soldiers, I heard a lot of people on the Right say "Aw, that's just a cheap photo-op." No, I think it was the Commander-in-Chief of our military paying respect to a dead soldier, and I'm grateful that he did that, and I was proud of him for doing that. And I think we all -- as Americans -- should give him credit for doing that."(continued)

Huckabee: I'm on a book tour, too
Amid all the publicity about Sarah Palin's memoir release, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee sent out an e-mail this afternoon that solicits funds for his political action committee, Huck PAC, and helps to remind his supporters that he, too, is on a book tour.
The former Arkansas governor writes:
I have been crisscrossing the country on my book tour meeting with thousands of voters over the last few weeks and when people mention Congress and the Obama administration to me, they are angry about the out of control spending, frustrated that Congress has turned a deaf ear to their concerns about the health care bill and not surprised that our country is lurching perilously left.
I share their concerns. Big government is alive and well in Washington and coming to a neighborhood near you. The bunch with no rules and no accountability up in Washington cant wait to create new rules for you and me. Why, before I went on this book tour I almost picked up the phone and called the White House to see if they had a rule against me traveling. It has gotten that bad.
Conservatives can send a message to Washington next November when we vote the Democrats out of office. I am personally leading the fight to elect conservatives through my leadership committee Huck PAC. To position us with the funds we need to get the job done, I have set a challenge of identifying 3,000 conservatives willing to make a donation to Huck PAC before the end of November.
Huckabee, who led GOP presidential prospects in a recent USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, is touting his latest tome, A Simple Christmas: Twelve Stories That Celebrate the True Holiday Spirit.
As USA TODAY's Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page wrote earlier this month, a spate of books are on the way from the Republican Party's potential 2012 contenders. You can read about those upcoming titles and Susan's recent interview with Huckabee here.

(Huckabee had a huge crowd of 100 at a book signing and was positively giddy. LOL.)
sw
That's not the Huckster I know.
S-T-A-R? I think they got it backwards.
;)
He is not a conservative and he is not a star.
And we need a President who sucks up to the left to be loved like we need a public health care option.
OK, Post of the Day!
HUCKABEE (the spoiler) is the reason we have Obama at this time.
Well when they start their article with such a gross error as this, they pretty much destroy their credibility from the word go.
No Huckster, paying respect is what GW Bush did. He went alone without a legion of reporters and cameras. That Dear Reader took the legion of cameras and reporters is why this transparent photo op over the bodies of dead American Soldiers was utterly despicable and shameful
LOL, it’s too bad that Hispanics have incredibly poor voter turn out.
(FUMH).

NO frickin way; has Obama EVER shown an altruistic inclination; an authentic patriotism. EVER! And like a tone deaf singer; he cannot fake it; though we watch him try.
While I can appreciate Huckabee; have never been a fan. He has on more than one occasion taken up the defense on behalf of Obama and has taken the offense against those who have a better eye than he; for truth; the whole truth and nothing but the truth, of Obama.
A truth that is embedded in Obama's most inauthentic and duplicitous self.

Huckabee is a butt sniffing little weasel, another reason why the RNC won’t see any of my money!
