Dang it, hate it when the post doesn’t go up right... Technically this poster is correct, but Regan was not a RINO. He had to make a number of compromises, and certain situations did arise that had to be dealt with. The Amnesty was a Mistake I think however. That is the only big one that I think he made. I wish he had been more aggressive in his last two years in office tho....
If your point was to show that Reagan was human and had his faults, then point made. At his worse, he was a damn sight better than what we are contending with today.

He’s right...Magnus was not perfect but he was something else.
About half of our current FReepers would have hated Reagan because of his record, if they had the balls to honestly compare him to modern Republicans.
They won’t do that because it would show how stupid they currently sound with RINO this and RINO that.

The sad fact remains, he was really vindicated when the confidential KGB Files were finally opened post Cold War in the Kremlin during Yeltsin's reign. Those KGB Files actually verified the placement of communist moles in government and in other influential areas of the country, notably Hollywood. McCarthy was right back then. We probably need somebody like him today. The trouble is that Americans are so used to rooting for the "underdog" that even the commies and Jihadis would probably earn support initially. It would take an earth shaking event like another 911 attack to jolt them into non-PC actions.
The proper questions are, “Was he better than any Democrat fielded in the past 34 years?” and “Was he better than any Republican fielded in the past 28 years?”
